Hi, I was rear ended and noticed I have frame now on my 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. I wanted to get some advice as to whether or not this damage can be fixed? Thank You!

Looks like it would need a new frame rail.

A new rail will fix it right up.

Thank you all! Very roughly, what would cost be running at for this kind of repair?

It all depends on how interested you are in doing the approved repair or just getting it back on the road.

Toyota says you would need to replace the frame, but the cheapskate in me would remove the bed and using chains and a portapower I would straighten the frame back up.

Repairing that frame is not recommended due to loss in rigidity, but it can be done. If you have inspections after repairs then you will probably need to replace the frame to clear.

Doesn't seem that there was that much rigidity to begin with!

Crumple zones my good friend. Thats one of the reasons why I would repair it, a crumple zone will crumple again after being fixed, sure it will crumple faster, but the amount it crumples faster is very small. I do wish the rear had a crumple zone thats replaceable like the front (aluminum bumper under the cover).

Old BMWs actually had shocks in the bumpers, so in a impact the frame would be perfectly fine (up to 30mph I think it was), then you just replace the shocks and repair the bumpers if there was any damage to it.

Understood. I would repair it too.

As you suggest, safety is good, but a more cost effective or repairable way to deal with damage like that would be nice.

A hit that light, but pushing into a vehicle up front that deployed bags would total a 5 yo model these days.

Welcome to the forum :hattip: sorry it has to be for this issue.
Your truck is a 2021, normally you would have full insurance coverage. Also you were rear ended, isn't the other drivers insurance involved?

I would assume insurance will require a whole new frame, $15-20k

Back alley fix, a strap, a telephone pole, a torch and a couple various size hammers and some throttle. No problem.

    Properly repaired, frame replacement.

Judging by the blue paint marker on the tailgate this is probably a totaled truck purchased from auction.

I have almost the same damage but my frame isn’t as bent but it’s still bent in the same spot. Goes into a frame shop in two weeks. Can insurance fix it or is it supposed to have a new frame?

I have the same problem I have a 2014 Tacoma six foot bed hit by a Nissan titan V8

collision center contracted by Geico—The other person’s insurance company says the frame is bent, but they won’t fix. I can take a decent sum and buy another used car (not just like mine) or buy my truck back “salvage” and fix it myself.

The problem is when he hit me. I hit the person in front of me so I have front end damage tailgate damage …bumper …the composite bed is cracked which is superficial. I just don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of repairs.

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
It’s odd. There are these cool things called body shops. They will literally tell you exactly (based off of VISIBLE damage) what you need and how much it should cost.

only takes a few minutes, and oddly enough, it seems like there is one on every 5th corner or so.

why trust the strangers on the internet for information/opinions..?

    but I say it’s a part out.
