I am not trying to be snarky or condescending here, but the folks that know have already deemed the repairs have exceeded the vehicle's value. Unless you are retired and looking for a project, or have a body shop and know the biz, you can't fix it for less. It seems most always, the frames are replaced, not repaired. Trust me, the insurance companies are looking out for their profits, so if they thought they could save even a few bucks by fixing,,, they would.

    Snarky yes.

I have contacted a couple of body shops and they say it can be done…and it’s roughly the same cost as getting a new used car. I’m just trying to get input from other Toyota owners. I digress.

I bought my truck brand new paid $42,000 for it. I know the history of my car and I would rather have it fixed and know what I’m dealing with than to buy used car that I don’t

I guess this really isn’t the place to post to get input.

Well, I gave you input. Apparently you didn’t like it and got upset,, your choice, but definitely wasn’t snarky.
You sound set on fixing it, and that’s cool, only you can decide what it’s worth to you.
No need to leave, hope you’re able to stay.

You decide what you want to do and do it. Just remember every one of these trucks seems to be different even though made right next to one another on the line. You might get one that the transmission shudders, the acis flap disintegrates, the rear diff whines….oh and you have to use the usb cable to use google maps (Sorry saw that somewhere on here tonight and just had to throw it in). Point being if you want that truck fix it. If not move on to another vehicle of your choice. Me personally, I’d fix it before taking on another car payment and owing the bank another cent.

Dont forget it'll be on carfax showing its been in an accident with major damage. That'll kill resale value.

Maybe INS will give you additional money for diminished value, but you would have to push for it.

Another bad part about this is if you were to buy another taco, having to pay taxes again. Thats $4K+ in my city(10% tax).
