Is that pretty expensive for a suspension kit?

It's up there but not over priced. If you're serious about that kit PM and we'll talk more.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Suspension can literally be as expensive as you want it to be. I'm running a budget friendly suspension that works... I have buddies trucks, that I have helped install lifts on, that cost 4-5 grand and then some.

Lol... I know what ya mean.

There's some bad ass shit out there. Hydrobumps, Alcan leafs, Resi shocks, bypass shocks etc etc.

You don't have to do all that to make a workable suspension though.

You could build your own pack with these. Keep your main spring and add replace the rest of your springs with the ones in this pack.

Depending how much weight you have in your bed I wouldn't bother with dakars. Likely more than 500lbs and you're better off weighing your truck and getting some custom Alcans or Deavers. If you want to do it cheap do what I said above. Might need an angle grinder to cut the leaves to length.

As she sits right now absolutely no weight is in the bed of my truck, sometimes my 50lb hound lol but imlooking at putting a bed rack with an RTT on it so would that still be realistic?

One question, that hasn't been asked... What RTT are you looking at getting?

Some of them have a significant amount of weight... Others only weigh about twice as much as your dog does.

My Smittybilt RTT only weighs 116 lbs.

Its going to be a little while before I get to start that project. I have to get my bumper thats already sitting in my garage powdercoated and installed first lol

The dakars would likely be sufficient. I doubt you'll have a rack and rtt over 500lbs. Depending how much other gear you have you may end up over that though.

    It's a very slippery slope.

Air bags could also be another option if you plan on having a drastic difference in loads from day to day. Ie putting the rtt on for a trip vs having an empty bed for commuting.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Spray paint it. That'll save you a bunch of money. Then just touch it up as needed.

My bumpers are painted with a self etching primer base and Duplicolor acrylic enamel spray paint from O'Reilly's.

Smittybilt can be had for under $700... I got mine on sale for $595 at 4 wheel parts, and they paid sales tax.

    Can confirm.

Keep it simple. It's easier and quicker just to give it a coat of paint.

Michigan is not a good place for powder coated bumpers. Any scratch will bubble the coating from all the salt used on the roads.

    ^^^ This ^^^

Powder coat is NO WHERE NEAR as tough as it's made out to be. Not even close to worth what you would pay to powder coat a bumper.

Also need to add that I will be trying to get the hell out and return her back to her natural habitat in Arizona in the next 2 years hopefully

    Damn... That's cheap.

But I'd still buy 2 cans of primer and 3 cans of the acrylic enamel and do that.
