So I want to preface this by saying I'm not looking to get crazy good mpgs or for some magic pill that will give me +4 mpgs, I just want to make sure there isn't something I'm missing that could help my gas mileage to be a bit better.

When my truck was stock, with my driving habits, I was getting about 17-18 mpgs highway driving. After lifting my truck, adding 285s, bed cover, and roof rack, I was getting about 13-14 mpgs.

In the last month, I made a few upgrades that I was hoping would help my MPGs. Those were:

Rough Country Speedometer Calibrator. This was done to update my speedometer and odometer to the correct values given the larger tires, which was essentially to show more accurate MPGs.

    5.29 Gears.

    KDMax Tune.

I know these aren't supposed to boost my gas mileage like crazy but I figured I'd get a little help. I now know the 5.29s arent supposed to help with the MPGs since they keep the truck at around ~2500 rpms.

My driving habits have stayed the same the whole way through. Im currently still averaging around 13.5 mpgs on regular gas. I will try a different dealers regular gas and also 91 to see how those perform, especially since with the KDMax Tune its octane learning.

I know if I keep the truck around 65-72mph and ~2100 rpms I would see a much better mileage, but aside from that is there anything I may be missing that could be causing worse gas mileage? I recently changed my KN Oil Air filter back to paper, and cleaned my MAF but haven't seen much of a difference yet. Im around 35psi in my tires, would running them at 40psi for dd make that much of a difference?

Truck is super fun to drive now with the 5.29s and tune.

    2020 TRD Offroad

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/opinions.

You want it all. You cannot have it all. Good mpg stock and no good mpg fixed up to look cool. You are asking for the impossible. Physics have laws too.

Yea I'm familiar with those options. If those are the only options then looks like I'm sticking with my MPGs lol

When gas spiked last summer I bumped pressures up to 44psi and actually noticed gains. That and staying below 70mph made a massive difference with consumption.

Not much else you can do.

Other than slowing down and returning to stock, you’re about at it’s limits.

I'm not asking for good MPGs, im asking if there was anything else that could be done to boost the MPGs a bit or if the 13.5MPGs I'm currently getting are the max I'm gonna be able to get. If so, that fine. Just wanted to check.

Stock I was getting 21 to 23 highway, you were getting 17-18. 65 to 70 mph. So I would say alot to do with driving habits and terrain of where you live. Your not going to get anything to improve your mpg the way your set up.

Yea the biggest factor is definitely my driving habits. Im typically between 75-85 on the highway, which I know kills my MPGs but driving in CA it sucks to go only 65.

    Oh look, another mod....
If you change the truck don't be shocked when your MPG's hit the shitter. You lifted it, added very heavy tires and added more weight. To top that off, you have a fucking lead foot.

You can try getting lighter tires. My 33s are almost 60lbs each. That is why I am running 32s that weighs 37lbs.

Yea I'm not shocked my MPGs tanked, I know they tank with a lead foot, tires, and extra weight. Im just making sure there was nothing else I was missing that may help aside from removing stuff/returning to stock and not driving like a dickhead.

What tires are you running now? Did you go skinnier to drop the weight?
