Best performing stock wattage bulbs will be are the Philips +150 Racing Vision for low beam. They coat the high beam like the Philips +130s, which reduces high beam performance. The best performing stock wattage bulbs without reducing high beam performance are the GE Xenon +120. All the performance data and charts with product recommendations are in the headlight thread, including going high wattage for maximum output.

Everything you need for H4 headlights is here, scroll down to the comparison charts:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-h4-not-led-or-hid.398066/

Your fogs are H10s, H10s are a pretty poor bulb with not much support for upgrades. I'd suggest replacing the fogs with an SAE fog from this thread, Rigid Selective Yellow are what I would recommend.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/

If you wanted to upgrade using the existing units, you can take a look at what I tried in this thread, though it is not as street friendly as using an upgraded LED SAE fog assembly.

Just do a retrofit. I have no more than 150$ in these with eBay projectors.

Didn't miss anything. Your attitude, real life "intelligence", and inability to engage in an adult discussion are all obvious. Most of us just prefer that others exploring this topic have the facts.

No need to lump Roberto into your class for which TW, thankfully, has an IGNORE function.

These damn headlight threads are now the new oil threads.

Let’s put the legal mark on it

HID/LED drop in kits ARE illegal, retrofit is borderline.

There are no SAE/DOT compliant LED/HID aftermarket housings in the USA ( that I am aware of and I search regularly) THERE are E3 certified units in Europe....NOT LEGAL in the states.

Now, do as you wish, just expect someone is gonna hit you with high beams of their own or even a light bar flash just cause y’all wanna look “cool”.

Crashnburn has done the science and the testing.

Butt dynos and “nighttime” photos don’t prove anything.

I’m out before more pissing in Cheerios commences.

Point of clarification, there are many SAE compliant LED aftermarket headlight housings available in the US. Morimoto makes some for the 3rd Gen. KC, Rigid, Truck-lite, JW Speaker, Philips and many others make SAE compliant LED headlight assemblies in standardized sizes like 7" round, 5.75" round 200m, 7x6 ect. 200mm assemblies fit early 1st Gen, and pre-tacoma pickups. It is just the late model 1st Gen and 2nd Gens that have been left out so far (for Tacomas). I've inquired whether TRS had any plans for releasing a 2nd Gen version of the Morimoto assemblies and it didn't sound likely.

Or you can retrofit. Simple easy. Plug and play. Just takes some time and patience. But well worth it. Just did my first set and looking to do my second

That is probably why I have yet to find any for a 2.5gen.

Leaning heavily to swapping the China projectors in the Spyder lights to the rav projectors, price is the issue, some think they are sittin on gold with these.

Will check back with you crashnburn once I can locate a pair.

Rav4 2013-16 use 9005 (high beam bulbs) in the low beam projectors which is very uncommon, which means you can swap 9005 to 9011 HIRs and have the highest performing halogen bulb of all time for your headlights. In 2017 they switched the Rav4 to low beam 9012 HIR projectors, which is also an outstanding bulb, though lower in output than the 9011s that you can convert to if using the earlier 9005 projector. If using a halogen projector, these are the most desirable bulb types available, and not that common, hence the possible gold price.

I'm sorry if you've already answered this in one of your many, informative threads, but which bulbs would you recommend if I don't want to upgrade the harness or any of the housings?

So basically - what high performance bulbs would you recommend for the high/low beams and then for the fogs? (Without requiring any additional upgrades)

    Thanks!

Just do the headlight upgrade it’s a minor investment for your night time traveling safety. It’s one of the most pratical things available for our platform.

Thanks @Norton for providing that quoted info from the thread! Looks like I need to update that section in the headlight thread after the exhaustive bulb testing!

    Stock wattage bulbs:
Best low beam H4: Philips Racing Vision +150 (However this bulb coats the high beam with a blue coating, reducing high beam performance)
Best bulb without reducing high beam performance: GE Xenon +120
You can see relative charts on performance in the headlight thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-h4-not-led-or-hid.398066/

The early 2nd Gen fogs are H10s. It is a low performing bulb with no support for performance versions. You can see some experimenting I did here to come up with a powerful halogen solution.

What I would recommend is swapping out the assembly to an SAE LED foglight assembly. You can check out the performance of all of them in this thread. I recommend the Rigid Selective Yellow fogs for best poor weather performance.

Edit: @Norton I updated the headlight thread accordingly with the data backed best bulb recommendations. :)
