Can I get real time tire pressure?

Is it possible, with different TPMS sensors or something that I can get real time readings on my tire pressures through the torque app, or something similar?

you might be able to with one of those fancy apps that has the toyota add ons. I paid for the extra on my OBD Fusion app and I think it does live TPMS values

The newer scangauge firmware claims it can read the TPMS sensors but I haven't seen it verified on Tacomas yet, I need to send mine in and have it updated but I haven't gotten around to it.
Otherwise any scan tool that can talk to the TPMS module should be able to read them.

Thanks, but most of those are the type that screw onto your schrader valve, which I don't care for. I'm really looking for something with a real TPMS sensor, that uses either the Torque app, or something like the Scangauge, like @Dm93 mentioned. I'd prefer not to have a whole separate piece of equipment that does nothing but display tire pressure. And from what I understand, out TPMS sensors don't measure actual tire pressure, just a variation between tires. But maybe that's a product of the OBD system, and not the TPMS sensors.

I can confirm the newer ScanGaugeII will read the TPMS live with the correctly configured PIDs. I got my ScanGaugeII two years ago.

They do report actual pressure but the tires aren't labled by position just 1-5, easy enough to figure out which one's where by changing the air pressure in one at a time and seeing which sensor changes in the data.

Any idea if that can be made to work in the torque app? Considering a ScanGaige, but I'm on the fence.

Im afraid I’m not all that familiar with Torque. The only way I could think it would work is if the Torque app allows for custom PIDs. I have the DashCommand app and it does not allow for PID customization.

Thanks! Torque does allow for custom PID's, but I don't know anything about that. I'll have to do some more research now that I know the standard sensors are able to read pressures.

What PIDs/addresses did you use to pull the TPMS data? I'm curious if the same thing will work on my UltraGauge MX.

So ScanGauge uses a system called XGauges which I’m hoping isn’t proprietary but there’s a good chance it is. I used their websites list of configs:

Looks like it might be proprietary, but I'll do some digging. Thanks for the info.

On my 2014 tC I swapped out the headunit and when I did I installed a iDatalink Maestro unit that retains steering wheel controls and connects to OBD2 which pulls tire PSI/Temp, bunch of gauges, CEL's, etc. It's trick. Not the cheapest way to go about seeing vitals, but a really cool and clean way.

Having additional gauges on your center console is awesome:

You can get real time tire pressure with the factory TPMS sensors, just need a way to read it. I went with an aftermarket headunit and the maestro idata.

Did you have any luck getting the TPMS to work with your Ultragauge? Anyone else have any insight into whether it’s possible?

I have an OBDLink MX+ and it reads the TPMS from the four mounted tires (spare is either not supported or not programmed in my truck). Works great.

Depends which firmware they have, current ones can. Older ones can be sent in to get their firmware upgraded.

do you know how to find out what version of the firmware is capable of this? I’d love to have this feature. Bought my scangauge in 2021.

I sold my OE wheels with the sensors a while back for some wheels in better condition. Knowing that I can read them on my scangauge makes it worth actually buying new sensors to put in my wheels. Hopefully not too expensive.
