So I’ve got a 2013 Tacoma 4.0 with 216,000 miles. When I bought it 5k miles ago the bottom was completely dry but now at my oil change the oil pan is a little wet. Upon further investigation the bottom of the power steering pump is wet too and it looks like its coming from the crankshaft seal but im not sure. The corner where the timing cover meets the valve cover on the passenger side is slightly seeping but I don’t think it could be that. The area around the crank is the most wet but if it was just the crank seal why would the power steering pump be wet. I tried to see if the fluid on the ps pump is steering fluid or oil but it’s pretty dirty so it just looked black on the towel. Anyone with more experience care to give some input? Thank you

I tried to get some good pics but man, there is way less space in there than my previous 3.4 Tacoma or my silverado.

Look between the power steering pump and the timing cover and see if it is leaking there. If not maybe the valve cover. If you can't tell get a UV dye that can be mixed in engine oil and see where it is leaking from with a UV light.

Looks like a super involved job, will probably leave it unless it gets really bad.

It is a big job. And I’ll probably catch :crapstorm: for even suggesting the following.

Clean the areas around where it is leaking. Use some RTV and smear in on the seam where it’s leaking. Almost never would I recommend such a “fix”. Because it isn’t a fix.
But you don’t have a lot to loose by trying it, other than an little bit of time and $20 or so.

There has been a few people do this with good results. All of them choose this option because, as you found out, it a BIG job.

It's a good option especially if it's a slow leak. I was planning on doing it in spring but it looks like it's stopped
It was never much of a leak to begin with and it's been this way for years

It is. Dealer was charging me $4200 and a local shop said they would do it for $800 as long as I got all the necessary parts. I just used blue devil stop leak and haven't had a problem since.

The gist of that link is that it works - modify the PS pump bracket, clean, seal with the right RTV, and be done.
