Can I just use synthetic 5w-20 instead of 0w-20?

supposedly the 0w20 is a weee bit thinner at colder temps and at operating temps, so might get a little bit more butt dyno off the line quickness out of my 4 bangero_O

Different brands have different flow rates. Royal purple HPS 5/20 flows better than Toyota 0/20 at any temp.

I dont use it on my Tacoma because the 1700 ppm zinc levels could harm the CAT's.

I've found the Penzoil Ultra Platinum 0/20 works really well, so thats what my truck will use for a long time.

At one time I loved Castrol GTX 20/50. That was the 70's in my Honda CB750. In the 80's I went synthetic. first mobil1, then RedLine.

I've ran 20-50 in every Harley I've owned.

Current bike is the first one I've used synthetic in.

Dang - I read this whole thread and the only thing I learned is that I’m really missing out on low priced oil by not having a Walmart anywhere near my house.

No shit there I was at the Costco, I just bought a 6 pack of 5-20 by accident, I know I need 0-20, but hey it happens. Around April it will be 100 plus here so I figure I am good.

Costco is really good on taking returns. They'll have no problem taking those oil back or exchanges for the oil rating you need.

I run 20/50 in my air-cooled VW, but that engine is a pretty far cry from a modern engine LOL Everything else gets whatever the manual calls for.

I picked up two sealed cases of Mobil 1 5-20 synthetic at a garage sale for $5 a case. I live in the PNW where it rarely gets below 25. Either way I use it for my summer oil changes. No problems

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
Shoprite is the best for oil. Last time I picked up this stuff for $3 a gallon! No idea what weight it is, but it's super thin and makes my exhaust smell delicious. Fuck it, why even bother with manufacturer recommendations? We know what's best for our trucks.

They stick us with 0w20 because it gets 2% better mileage, overseas its 0w30 and 5w30.
