I'm hoping this is the best place to post this. Just looking for some opinions since I know many TW members are knowledgeable regarding building/construction. I bought this outdoor shed, but didn't realize that the roof overhangs significantly and it won't fit in the desired location. It's super close, but one of the beams holding up the patio is in the way.

Apologies in advance for the horrible pictures, they were taken last night and I am not around the unit to snap more photos.
There is a fence on the left side that the shed is completely pressed up against, and I would like the shed pushed back a few inches up against the brick wall. I believe the beam is a 4x4, and there are three of them total holding up patio. Is it safe to notch one out about 2 inches?

50% notch out of a structural support is too much.

If it’s a framed studded wall, typically 25% of width is the max. No clue on a post..

Looks like the shed will be sheltered. I’d notch the overhang before I started hacking on the post but then you have those electrical boxes...

You’ll probably only get it over an inch or so no matter what you do.

    Good luck.

I'd notch the plastic roof on the shed before I notched out that beam.

Can you? Yes. Should you? Absolutely not.

    Cut off the shed overhang.

Move the post. Or add another beside it to carry where you notch it.

The post is a structural member.

Do as Taco01863 said. Sister another post to it, bolt them together, get a footing under the added post with a saddle on top attached to the beam.

    Otherwise, alter the shed.

Do not cut the post as you asked.

Is the bolted on bracket, at the top of the post, and conduit hiding a butt joint?

    Short answer is no

You can alter the post location as mentioned above but that kinda depends on what the post is bearing on and the location of any splices in the beam plies

Thank you all for the advice, it's very appreciated. Initially, I didn't want to cut the brand new, expensive shed, but on second thought I realized that would be the much safer and even easier option. Also, I think I am going to be able to cut it out perfectly around the post and not damage the structure of the shed. That's assuming all goes as planned, though it never seems to.

How about 2 laminated 2 x 4 next to it on each side and then pull post
Don’t they have more structural strength
