Got a nail sized puncture in my sidewall, way up high where the side tread is on my BFG T/As. Is this safe to plug? Or am I looking at buying a new tire already?

Tried using the search function but for some reason my phone kicks me off the search window before I can even type anything.

Thanks for any advice..I use the plug kits all the time but never this far down the side.

This. Seen a member on here plug a sidewall gash with anything he could find plus 30 plugs. Got him to a garage so he could get a tire.

S.O.L. when on the sidewall of the tire. If it was in the tread (top portion) of the tire you should patch it not plug it.

Never had a plug fail on me and there is nothing wrong with using them properly. My trucks got two in it now. Yea a patch is better but I can DIY a plug. By the time my oe tires tread was dead on my taco I had 10 plugs between the 4 tires.

I agree. I use em a lot, in the tread. In a pinch I've whittled down a piece of stick and jammed it in the hole. That held me till I got the 45 minutes to town.

You can have it cauterized. I did that on my old truck. Tires weren't very old. Went another 35k with it.

That's why I purchase tires from discount tire. And buy the warranties. Then all u gotta do is pay another twenty some dollars for the new warranty on the free replacement tire!:)

Just remember..... The load is supported by the sidewall..... That's like having a termite infested load baring wall.
