As the title reads... I have stock 16" Toyota rims, but just found a nice set of rims + rubber on a buy/sell forum that are 17". Anyone know if these are compatible? The tax man raped me this year and doesn't care that I need new tires. If I can purchase these lightly used ones, I'd sure like to save the cash right now. So does anyone know if this will work?

ps, I looked around a bit and didn't see a thread like this. Apologies in advance if there's this exact thread a couple pages down.

Pending the size of the tire. Potentially yes. If tire size is 265/65/17 or 265/70/17 they should fit without a problem.

No. They're actually winter tires, but at this point, I'm starting to not care. I can't find any decent 16" tires in this city that aren't new. I figure if I buy these:

    http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...-Bridgestone-Blizzak-Tires-W0QQAdIdZ195053424

I can continue the hunt and get a set of 17s (which seem to be abundant around here) and then switch them out. I don't know why, but 16s just aren't really available. All the tires shops I've stopped by have loads of 17s and then they'll have like 3 16s that are worn down below 50%

Aha... You meant the rims. (duh)

Thanks for the info, guys. Eh, anyone know why they're selling two different sizes? Wouldn't it be easier for Toyota to stick to one rim size? WTF?
