Can I replace my head unit with an 2022 Corolla one

I’d like to upgrade the head unit of my 2017 Tacoma to support CarPlay, and I found someone has done it on his 2017 with one taken from 2019 Tacoma.

So I was wondering if I could install a 2022 Corolla head unit on my 2017 truck because I’m not sure its size fit or not, or is it possible to install it with full functionality.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

 

If it fits size wise it most certainly won’t be plug and play. It’s doable, but you’ll most likely need to replace/splice a new wiring harness or at the very least, a few wires as the ones you have currently will most likely not all have a home and/or fit within the Corolla head unit.
I’m fixing to switch-out my 13 Tacoma head unit with a 14 Tacoma one and it’s going to be a pain in the ass, and that’s between two same Gen Tacomas.

 

Any good stereo install shop can wire it up easily, so it should just come down to fitment. Call a few shops and get some quotes.
