Thats a 1/4 panel. Yes you can replace it yourself but it will need to be painted unless you can find one the same color in a junk yard.

Nah, bed sides are super easy on these trucks. Its bolted on.

You'll want to remove the plastic trim on the top of the bedside, remove the wheel well, and then you can get to all the bolts.

Be sure to put blue painters tape all over the back of the cab. No matter how careful you are, your going to hit the cab with the bedside and put a nice big cut in the cabs paint.

Here is a 2nd gen, its pretty much the same on the 3rd gen

Don't take this wrong but how would we know?:notsure: You only have a few posts so we don't know if you can wrench, your skillset or anything else. Several of us here can assemble the truck from parts. Several of us can cast, machine and weld the parts. There is another group of us that can't find our ass with both hands and would use a line wrench to crack walnuts because we would have no idea what else to do with it.
Do you have the skill set? If you do, then you probably also have the tools and garage too, which means you probably wouldn't even have to ask because you would have already crawled under there and figured it out for yourself.
So, no offense, but I don't think you can replace the bed side.

If the OP had asked a different way, would your response have been less snarky?

Had he asked, "What is involved in replacing this panel?"...... would you have been able to provide a helpful answer?

My definition of a helpful answer would include a knowledgeable explanation of tools, specialty equipment, specialized skills, gotchas etc.

I will admit I can't provide a helpful answer having never done it, but I was able to understand what the OP was asking through context.

Gaps and paint matching will be the hardest part, but it's literally just a few bolts, so yes it can be done at home.

Absolutely. Proper communication is critical if you want a correct answer. Even if he had prefaced it with "I can turn a wrench" not only mine but a lot of others would answer "no problem" it just a simple bolt on.

And... I was trying to be nice but I'm not real good at it. :annoyed:

If you care how your truck looks then turn it into your insurance company and get it properly fixed, that's what insurance is for.

I watched a video.....pretty strait forward. Makes me think the Tacoma could be sold as a DIY model kit at Costco.

Hardest part would be sourcing an inexpensive color matched quarter panel.

Painting it is a skill set beyond my patience/ setup level.

Pulling the part from a junkyard is not impossible, but not as easy as removing it in your garage etc.

    First Youtube video I saw

Most junkyards will remove it for you.
