    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

All the main componants of the engine are the same. The throttle body will be different and maybe a sensor here and there.

Suspensions are pretty much the same. Front is identical... rear... the leafs are different between 97 and 04.

Trans is different. T-case is (most likely) different (assuming your 97 is plsin J-shift... thst is different than your 04)

Is that kind of what you're asking?

Myself I would look closer to your 04 that way more goodies can be used.

Then it depends just how much can be used on another vehicle.

If you want to be SURE most parts will swap, buy an 03-04. If you want to be VERY close, buy an 01-02. If you want to be acceptable, buy 95.5-00.

You can swap your grill and front fenders, too.

If your 04 frame is good, you don't need to worry *as much* about the frame rust thing since you can more than likely swap the frames too, with some minor tweaking here and there... as long as you get the same body style.

To make that work you need
    Hood
    Fenders
    Core supports (upper/lower)
    Grill
    Headlights
    Turn signals
    Headlight fillers

My son is looking at doing the 2001-2004 Tacoma swap on to his 96 4 runner. :D

Yeah, I neglected a few things. Should'a just said "the front end"

Those 4Runner/Taco swaps just don't sit right with me. It's kinda like (tho not nearly as bad) as those VW/Rolls Royce franken builds. My brain doesn't compute.

Lmao! I know what you mean.

I like the Tacoma swapped on to T4R... not the other way.

Also @jbrandt his T4R was in a front end collision and is salvage title. The hood is a replacement, the fenders are (slightly) creased, grill is damaged and core supports are creased as well.

I would tell him not to do a Taco-runner if a bunch of the parts weren't going to need to be replaced to make everything straight anyway.

The 1995-1997 actually is different in the front area. They change the headlights, grill, bumper mid year or so.
There is actually more room in between the radiator and the front bumper after 1997.
That area is different that I know

Most other parts can be swapped,

MAF housing and style will be different,
