That’s true. I judged too quickly. Some people are probably into that. I would guess you don’t just start by attaching a car to your junk. You work your way up to that!

A lot less wind resistance on a boat vs a camper.

As long as you stay to the factory owners manual spec's you will be fine. Toyota has deep pockets, do you really think they would put bad info on towing so they could be sued, of course not. Listen to the folks who have actually towed and with their Tacoma not the BS.

Some people here want you stay home, set on the porch and in rocking chair.

I WILL post my thoughts after the first trip over the mountains! Depending how she acts before I make that trip, I may add a weight distributing hitch. Otherwise, I’m going with the equipment Toyota put on her. If I don’t post in the next six months, send someone!! I’ll report back the good and the bad. I’m so used to passing everything going up to the tunnels on I-70, can’t go wrong with the old 24 valve!

Weight Distribution hitch and a brake controller (both properly setup) and not being in a hurry and she will do just fine.

Dont expect to 1. win races (stopping or starting) or 2. get double digit mpgs while towing. Shit you would probably be able to load the tacoma hooked to the trailer on a big ole flat bed goose neck hooked to the dodge and get better mpgs haha.

I towed a 3200lb dry (closer to 3700lb loaded) trailer up from sealevel to 5k ft in 40+mph winds without much issue, 2nd gear spinning 4k rpms up a pass for miles at a time was not outta the norm tho, but in the flats she would hold 4th lockup without probs.

4,500 dry weight. 24ft length. I live at 4,500ft and most our trips I'm dragging it over passes between 6,000 and 8,000ft. I wouldn't go heavier so if your pulling it over passes with higher elevations every trip you probably wouldn't want a trailer this heavy.

Thanks guys. These last two posts make me think, I’ll give it a try, then decide what will work and what won’t. I can honestly say, arriving is more important than speed!
