Hi so ive been looking for new wheels for my truck and i ended up finding a couple of disclaimers saying that only certain alloy wheels are able to be used in the winter (winter rated) i have a set of falken wildpeak at3ws and i use them for the winter and summer so i only need one set of wheels. I also live in ontario canada so theres plenty of snow here and i was wondering if anyone could let me know if alloy wheels really do need to be rated for winter or not. Im new to here so im not sure if this is where im supposed to post this, this seems like the right spot.

I’ve never heard of winter rated wheels.
All my oem alloys peel at some point
I run a set of dedicated snow tire/wheel combo.
Takes the hassle out of remounting.

No such thing, the quality of the alloy dictates how it does in winter. OEM alloys handle winter the best, cheap 100-200$/rim alloys usually corrode over time.

Most Canadians run steel rims due to cost and ease of replacement.

You’re fine to run alloy wheels in the winter. The only issue is that they corrode vs steel that rusts. I imaging off you costed them with one of the new ceramic products out there they might hold up better to the road salts and/ or chemicals.
