Hey y'all, just got my first Taco (also my first truck and first new vehicle)- basic question, can I use Running Boards/Nerf Bars from other vehicles on my new 22 SR Taco? Specifically- a friend offered me an old set of runners off his 1st gen Grand Cherokee (ZJ) and I'm wondering if they'd fit without drilling into my new truck.

Edit: Thank you all, going to create a second post look for Taco Specific board recommendations!

    Oh look, another mod....
No. You need to buy nerf bars/running boards that are designed for your truck. The proper length and bolt holes.

If you have a cutoff wheel, grinder and welder anything is possible.

Body on frame Grand Cherokee? I’d love to see that!

My bad, it's a ZJ- it looks like a body on frame from underneath, but I did a little more digging and they were unibodies. I guess they just used to make unibodies a bit more robust than they do now.
I'll correct it on the mother-post now.

One thing you need to be aware of is that there is a difference between running boards and what are called sliders. Tacoma running boards/side steps don’t bolt onto the truck’s frame. They bolt onto the bottom of the cab. Your Tacoma comes predrilled and tapped for the bars. Sliders are what most guys add that do off-roading. Those either bolt onto or are welded to the frame.
