picked up a caliraised led lightbar for behind the lower grille without a harness. I would order one from caliraised, but i want to use it for my trip on thursday.

    picked up this wire harness:
    https://www.autozone.com/exterior-l...gX6nKkPxyKFGXXf9sjz94fkdGkPbT9_RoCUlUQAvD_BwE

plugged it all up and everything works fine, even the plug fits. I ran it for about ten minutes and noticed the harness was warm, definitely not hot, but warmer than when it wasn't plugged in. the packaging says it's good for up to 200w. looking at caliraised's site, it looks like the light bar is 300w. the relay (40A) and fuse (30A) on the harness seem appropriate.

Am i at risk running this harness?

just looked at it again and the wires going from the relay to the lightbar plug are 16g. they're also ~10' long so i plan on chopping ~6' off and soldering back together. Not sure what gauge the wire that is on the lightbar is.

In my opinion you're asking for trouble. Go ahead and get, or make a harness with heavier gauge wire.

in theory, if i can find out the gauge of the wire coming from the lightbar, i can just replace the 16gauge wire on the harness to match right?

Probably, but I'd play it safe and go one size larger.

now i'm just even more confused as i'm reading about wires.

if the harness says it's only for 200w, that would put the max amps at 16.67 right? why would they put a 30amp fuse and a 40amp relay on it?

and now i'm even more confused. just ran up to caliraised offroad to pick up a caliraised led wire harness. All they had were double leg harnesses, but the guy told me they were the same as the single leg. All the wires are the same 16 AWG as on the harness i picked up from autozone.

@CaliRaisedLed are all your harnesses made with 16 AWG? If so, is there any reason I can't use the other harness i picked up and keep the double leg if i end up getting ditch lights?
