I am new to off-roading and was wondering if my 2018 Tacoma 2WD TRD-Off Road will possibly make it or am I just better off trading it in for a 4WD?

Whatever is best will depend if I can find help to remove the bed rack and tent I already have on the truck if I have to do a trade in and I want to be sure before I do any upgrades to it…

It all depends on what type of wheeling/exploring you plan on doing. I had a 2wd TRD sport and it did just fine. Only got stuck a small handful of times in several years. Throttle control and tire placement goes a long way

You can go 90% of the places I go with 4x4. If you don't go nuts, you are good.

However, mud and snow tend to make 4x4 mandatory.

Yeah… I found that out at my moms driveway on a steep incline and that was without the rack and tent.

It just depends. A trail that you just passed thru with no problem in 2wd can be impassable for a 2wd after it rains.

If you know your intent is to go off-roading, it's no question to me, you should get 4wd. Either way 2wd or 4wd, you should invest in recovery gear. If you are just going "overlanding" to the KOA then yeah your 2wd will be just fine lololol.
