I would hope so too but I got to tell you I am impressed at that Hilux going up at that angle while it's wet and with tires that seem to be meant for on-road.

I agree. However it is wet out and those are road tires. Maybe it's just me, I'm impressed. I was bummed that the video did not show the taco doing the same thing.

Yup only available in 33% of North America. I like the Taco's exterior look better but something tells me that the "guts" go to the Hilux.

Are they available in Mexico? The Hilux is available there so I'll be surprised if the Tacoma is as well.

I agree I don't really care for the Hilux's looks but I think the powertrain may beat ours.

Yeah. What's the deal with that, if they get it why can't we? I still miss mine.

I I have a feeling it's a cost-cutting measure to squeeze even more profit out of US buyers. This Market is probably the most profitable for Toyota.

Never say no way. Just the engine alone would beat our tacos.

The new Hilux uses the good and familiar, but underpowered 2.7 through out the Middle East. Didn't see any with that body and a diesel. Don't know if other engine options are available in North America.

I thought grab handles are a OSHA requirement in work trucks.

I can't recall off the top of my head.

(Unverified) Mexico is the only place in the world where Toyota sells a Tacoma and a Hilux in the same market.

Just took a look on the Toyota.com.mx site. The Tacoma is substantially more expensive. Hilux is sold as a utility vehicle, Tacoma a lifestyle vehicle. You can get a Hilux 2wd chassis cab for under $15k US dollars. They don't compete against each other.

Mexico is the only market with both. I have read some do end up in other countries. I think there is interest for them, I guess they like the way it looks tough.

Not exactly sure why Mexico gets the Tacoma, perhaps it has to do with them being driven into the U.S., an ease of registration or emissions. As far as Toyota is concerned for sales and parts Mexico is part of Central America, not North America.

No, the Taliban and ISIS insisted on having those handles. You know they drive fast over sand dunes and such, while the guy in the box is firing a .50 cal. machine gun.... Even the driver needs to hang on at times....

We don't need that handle at the mall, normally. Do we..??
