So i have heard many different interpretations of rules regarding paying taxes.

One thing i have heard is that there is no law per se that sais i have to pay tax.

another thing i have heard, is that taxation without representation, is illegal.

I believe, that when i pay taxes, i am getting a service, kind of like cable, or monthly porno subscription.

With all the above in mind, would it be fair for me to say that i am going to stop paying taxes because:

A, The government has blatantly disrespected, and disenfranchised me
B, Funding Nance Pelosi's plastic surgery is not my idea of money well spent

Although this may seem political by nature, I really would be interested to hear feedback on this, and arguments as to what the actual laws are

I mean i was sitting up watching the healthcare debate last night and thinking to myself, why am i paying these classless, disrespectful, imbeciles? How do they get away with their arrogant behavior?

I think this violates the forum rules of no political talk which is where this is headed.
But as for your question, go ahead, stop paying taxes.

Don't end up like Wesley Snipes or Woody Harrelson. It didn't work for those guys it won't work for you. The only way to avoid taxes is to totally go off the grid. Start by crushing your computer.

You are getting a service, you went through school right (k-12)? Do you have friends that serve in the Military? (you are still able to speak english, and not live under the control of some warlord). You house catches of fire, the Fire Department doesn't come running down in a rickshaw with a tub of water, they have Fire engines. Some Punks decide to assault you, your taxes pays for the Officers that responds to you.

TAX is a law, that is why they are voted on by congress and there are thousands of sections to the Tax Laws. What people try to argue is that taxes are NOT constitutional, I think the supreme court disagrees as we are all still paying them. If taxes weren't a law you would not hear about people going to jail for Tax Evasion (Wesley Snipes, Fat Guy from Survivor 1). Taxation without representation, in theory you have representation, that is why we vote. While the person you vote for may not win they are still your representative.

    YES I AM A CPA

www.irs.gov all the answers are there. My dad worked with one of those crazy guys that didn't think he had to pay taxes. He actually really believed in it. After he got put away for a while and paid his backtaxes with penalties, he made sure taxes were deducted. True story!

Ok, so it IS a law then.. I have heard so many times that "there is no law that states you have to pay taxes" is that just meaningless blabber by angry citizens? (not trying to be a smart ass there)
