It was unplugged. Afraid to replug in without knowing WTF it does. I have a viper 5704 alarm so perhaps the DEI installer meant to unplug it?

    Thank you so much.

    Yikes.

That installer should be fired... leaving shit hanging blocking access to the fuses like that is totally ghetto... as is using those 3M quick-taps.

I suspect that the plugs may be hanging down from the switch blanks... you've got an automatic so it may be the (unused) harness for the clutch cancel switch.

It wasnt hanging down, I pulled it down since I saw the plug open.

I think those taps are from the company that installed the KARR alarm, which was on it from the dealer when I got it. I asked them to remove that, but he probably didnt remove those taps.

I asked him before install how he taps in to wires (without saying do you use those 3m taps) and he said the method(I forget the name now) was that he strips back the insulation, split the individual wires, feed the new wire in, wrap, and then electrical tape with zip tie over it. He wasnt too keen on soldering, said often times in closed spaces, people burn stuff, and in Cali, with the wrap, and the electrical tape, he has never seen any problems. We brought up the taps then and he said they are horrible. He said they cut wires interior often and should never be used.
I do recall looking in there before I brought it in to the install and seeing those taps, and at that time I had the KARR.

I'm going to take a chance and plug taht thing back in :)

Either plugging it in or leaving the battery unplugged for 30 mins helped.

Ahh... as long as the tap is not used, then leave it alone. They can damage the wire, but the problem normally is that they are not secure.
In this case, it is no longer in use, and it serves as an insulator for the cut in the insulation.

    Where was it unplugged from?

I think that 3m tap stuff was KARR but I don't know. Ill ask the installer on Monday when I go back to tell me what it is

I also want to know what that white plug truly is. Toyota charged me $110 and couldn't find that plug. I plug it in and all is good. I would have been fine paying the 110 *if* they found it. Sooo simple. But they didn't. I want to know what it was exactly I plugged in,, then speak with te service mgr about it.

In mammoth now. Time to get going!

So I won't beat this horse too much longer, but if someone out there knows what the wires in this plug are exactly for, I'd love to know.

    Thanks.

I thought maybe that one, but with the focal length it distorted and looked too big.

If your mirror temp/compass came back to life after plugging it in, then I'd bet $10 that's what it is.

    Yep rich!

If you look up the rear camera anytime mode you will see this is where the power to the camera goes through.

    Confirmed with the FSM...
