Can someone identify what I’m looking at here on the engine?

In my mind a weep, or a seep is also a leak. Whether one or the other is harmless or not.....

My definition is based on my lack of motivation and enthusiasm to tear stuff apart.

    Am I lazy? - Maybe.
Would I rather spend my time on more important things. - Yes.

Until it drips, I don’t get too concerned.
Should others do as I do? - No. Absolutely not.

If it’s as straight forward as it seems, and the o-ring and parts are cheep.. I’m just gonna have some fun, and knock it out.

Right after I figure out this new mystery missing bolt conundrum

You wouldn’t be the first person with “missing bolts” that aren’t actually missing.
They can’t be missing if they were never there?
Search “3rd Gen Tacoma missing bolt”

I hate being novice and asking dumb questions. I’m sorry about that.

Based upon the photo I just posted, page one at the bottom, the bolt by the dipstick is possibly missing… intentionally? lol. Or, am I just misreading the sarcasm lol

    It’s not a dumb question.
    It’s a good question.

    It was never there…..seriously.
    No sarcasm.

I’ve just been around long enough to see it.
If you stick around here long enough, you’ll learn a lot.

Be warned. Some of it, you can’t “unlearn”

I had my timing cover leak repaired under my extended warranty at 72K. Symptom wet oil splatter behind and on back of Power Steering pump. Dealer didn’t hesitate to call it in.

    So!

Maybe I’m blind, but what’s the best way to get eyes on the timing cover leak? Would I be able to see it from the passenger side of the engine bay, top view?

Or do I need to drop the skid plate and look up with a flash light? I’ve seen photos? But cannot identify where they are.. since most are so zoomed in.

I also see from others photos.. that it’s either dirty gunky black oil or fresh oil.

You might be able to if you can fish an inspection mirror down there?

This is how I’d do it.
Getting the skid plate out of the way will help a lot.

[IMG]I have the same thing, dealer said just keep an eye on it, if it fails it's covered by power train warranty.
