I was looking at converting a (free) gen 4 hood sound insulator on my gen 3, but I don't know what kind of fitment I'll have to work with.

Can I get someone to measure the length of your hood, and width near back and width near front for me please? Thanks!

Pics of the underside would also rock.

What is a “free” gen 4 hood sound insulator? Why you need hood insulator for 3rd gen? More like the oppposite, measure your 3rd gen hood, and figure out how to fit “free” hood insulator. If you mess up, no worry too much, because free.

Fair enough. 3g engine doesn't have much whine. It was offered to me. I guess I'll pass on it.

Going against the grain again. My 3G was one noisy diesel sounding mfer. Clicking and clacking away. That was just at idle. Then uphills made it scream like a stuck pig. Constantly downshifting to revving like an F1 car. My 4G sounds tame compared to it. Sound more like a V6 going up those same hills. Curious inversion. Toyota really screwed up the mistaken gen powertrain.

If it's free, just cut it up when you get it. Don't overthink it.

I passed on it. Looks like the hood indentation is a lot smaller on a gen4, so it would probably be small even though the gen 4 is wider.
