I have a 4' bed and i put 2 bikes in it all the time? The tail gate holds up just fine. If you think about it, its just the tire that is sitting on the tail gate which sure as hell doesnt add up to to max weight! Your fine man, do it:cool:

Hmm yeah. good point. I really didn't think that the xr600 was that much bigger than an MX 450. Also, when i looked at your avatar i thought it was a mid 90s taco, which led me to wonder if maybe the ebd lengths changed, but now I see you have an 03.

just to be sure, the xtd/access cab is 6 feet with the tailgate up and the dbl cab is 5 feet right????

i have a tool box and with a fourwheeler in the back the rear tires are on the tail gate and it made my truck squat and i could feel my leaf springs in the back bottoming out i think thats what made my shock go out

You need something to distribute the weight off the gate. Something ridged. I wouldn't be surprised if a sheet of 5/8's plywood would take enough weight off the gate. You could also prop the back of the plywood up to get some of the weight off. I wouldn't go very high, just a little. This would distribute the weight better. If the plywood bends a little too much reinforce it with some steel and bolts. Spreading the weight would work.

I loaded my Superglide backwards one time for 10 min. and bent my tailgate.
    I wouldn't recommend it.

Damn, I better be careful. I have all kinds of loads in my truck and some don't fit unless I have the gate down. They must be a bit weak.

I took this pic today in Utah. The plates on the RV said Montana. I think your tailgate will be fine.

I just recently installed a bed extender and the caution label states to not exceed 200lbs on the tailgate. [IMG]

I bet three ''husky'' guys on a tailgate looked funny, were they holding hands too? I would tell people it was from moving gun safe or something...
