If a thief is watching and you lock with fob he can pick up your code with scanner, when you get out lock with the button on door so the code isn't broadcasted to the thief.....read this somewhere on TW.

I have heard of this too. Might do the old fashioned putting the shiny part of the key in the hole on the door. I would rather do this anyways. . . Tempted to take battery out of keyfob forcing me to unlock and lock door.

Damage isn't always so obvious. Around here they shove a flathead screwdriver into the key slot and force it to unlock. Hopefully they didn't damage your truck, but you might want to try your key in each slot just to double check.
I don't know if forcing the key slot has any affect at all on the electric/remote lock. ???

well, i would need to have the factory key fob so i can start my truck. The thing about these remote starts that are installed on the tacomas with push to start engine is that the engine dies when you open the door, so you need to have the key fob to start it again once you are inside the truck.

Just get one that uses the factory fob. I only carry a keyless fob around.

im not really sure about viper but most likely.. thats why i went with 12-volt solution because theirs uses the factory key fob. just press the lock button 3x then it will start the truck. now their phone app will let you do all of those wherever you are in the world as long as you have wifi connection. no need to bring with you an extra key fob.

OP, I feel for you bud. Thieves are absolutely despicable. It sucks to feel unsettled at your own place of residence. Get an old school viper alarm that yells, "PROTECTED BY VIPER ALARM SYSTEM. PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE." Damn those were annoying back in the late 90's but probably pretty effective.

Word of advice to you and everyone on here. If you keep a gun or guns in your truck, don't ever tell anyone on a public forum. You never know who's lurking about and who may know what you drive and the general area of where you live. Just a public service announcement ;]

Looked and I’m good. Thanks for the insight.

I have edited a few posts. If you quote a post I don’t think the edit effects it. So I do not own any firearms. If you did try to steal my stuff there would be no reason to expect any retaliation. Nor do I carry any sort of glock 19 and definitely not with 147 federal HST’s.

Also looked in the car info menu. Lots of lock unlock options. Though do not have an auto lock option once the door is opened. Only if vehicle is unlocked then door is not opened will it lock automatically according to the timer.

No point in locking a doot when it is open. Not sure exactly what youbwant. The autolock will lock on timer if you forget.

Maybe on yours. If I open door mine will not lock on it’s own. That’s what I originally wanted. Sounds like your trim is different.

The auto lock in my menus is for unlocking car. Not opening the door. And walking away again. Taco will relock itself.
