9EB99AFE-337D-4424-B6DD-213C8085664C.jpg Hey guys I have a 2018 tacoma trd sport 4x4 and I wanted to do a suspension lift, 3-4” in front and 2-3 in back. I’m replacing my stock wheels with black trd 17” wheels and I called four wheel parts to ask about my options for a lift and was told I can’t use the wheels for a lift at all, is this a thing? I’m new to the lift game so any info would help. Thanks

Lol no. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Wheel dimensions play a role in tire size but nothing to do with suspension

And this is why NOBODY SHOULD DEAL WITH 4 WHEEL PARTS. They are fucking idiots, and I would not go more than 3 inches in the front and 2 or so in the rear. I have all Kings with the fronts at just about 3 and an ICON 3 Leaf Progressive AAL in the back for about 2 inches. And I'm on OEM Wheels. You should research more as the 3rd Gen is different than the 2nd Gen

That’s what I said to the guy. I’ve never heard that and I’ve seen hundreds of Tacoma’s with the TRD wheels that are lifted and he told me they weren’t done properly. ‍♂️

Maybe he meant that if you do a 4" lift which requires a drop bracket and bigger spindles, then your 17" stock wheels won't work with the lift. Because he's right, they won't. 17" wheels can't clear the larger spindle.

You'll be just fine using the same wheels and upping the size, you might need a small spacer, that's about it.

Brother, shoot me a private message and let me help get you set up with a proper lift suited for your needs! Don't buy the wrong stuff. I can guide you and hook you up on any parts.

Yeah what he said, but go skinny 33 so no wheel spacer is needed

4 Wheel Parts is right, you cannot use factory size wheels on a lifted truck. When lifting a truck its a requirement to run at least 20in wheels (22s are recommended), 3in spacers, and super low profile M/T tires...

Don’t forget, bro! The front must also sit at least 4” higher than the rear.

    Ah yes!

I bought some tires through my local 4WP. Pulled up and there were about 6 jeeps in the lot, all lifted on 20s with angry Jeep eye grills. However, one was parked up on the curb so I know they are hardcore off roaders :p

So you guys are saying if I lift my truck I can’t use stock wheels? I’m so confused? Wheel size shouldn’t make a difference? Tire size I get but wheel size ?

Are your current wheels 20s or 22s?
