I don't know if this is the right forum, but I am looking for an ultra-low profile rack system for my truck with a cap. Ideally looking for an expedition type basket style that will be an even line from bed (cap) to roof of truck. A RTT is in the future and I saw a pic of a set-up that I like. Any help identifying it (or other) systems is appreciated.

This. Possibly a GOBI, unlikely, but also works nice!

Thanks! I'm ordering the A.R.E. CX HD cap tomorrow and need to know what type of mounts to have them install when they make it!

Have them install the Yakima or Thule rails on top of the cap. The Prinsu racks will work with either of those.

Thank you all for the info. ARE has the "HD" rack on their site and looks like it mounts to the framework, but it appears to sit too high. I'll talk to them about rails. From the feedback, it seems rails will offer more selection... I do like the looks of GOBI racks!

just so u know the HD system only works with the HD rack they sale. the ARE HD rack is integrated into the aluminum frame on the inside of the shell.

Yes, I gathered that. It looked like a good option (mounting to the aluminum frame) but it seems you need to use their rack bars and mount anything to that. Which to me looks like you would have a 2-3 inch "air-gap" between the rack and the roof of the truck cab/bed cap which does not look good to me.

Good point. I'll check with them. They do have the option of "roof tracks only" and if they install them, they (hopefully) will attach to the frame?

I don’t believe they do. They probable attach to the Fiberglass witch would defeat the purpose to the HD model.
