def go ahead and get you some dakar leaf springs should be night and day IIRC they are designed to ride best under slight load unless they have multiple packs based on use

    Thank you

I will start researching them next few days, and order up the parts this weekend.

If you get Dakars, and your front springs are starting to sag, too, that 2.25" of lift is going to be more like 5" and you're gonna have a mean ole rake. I'd get new springs for the front too, plus you need longer shocks, brake lines, muffler hanger...[IMG]

I prefer to replace things that are needed. This isn't my starbucks cruising BRO truck, I have a 17 PRO for that.

This truck lives 10 months of the year on a farm. Comes home 2 months for maintenance.

Thus I need it to just function as a truck :) Get it back to OEM spec. If its good enough for the Taliban, its good enough for me.

you could just buy oem ride height HD leafs instead. retains factory height but the spring rate is more heavy duty

I feel like op doesn't want to spend thousands of dollars on his work horse. couple hundred bucks gets you some hd leafs. toss them in and forget about them for the next 10 years

When leafs are replaced, do shocks need to be replaced, or are shocks/leafs independent of each other?

    Appreciate the help.

Its a work horse. Cold A/C. All OEM stock. Doesn't burn or leak. It truly is one of Toyotas best. It is the slowest Tacoma on the forum, but gets the job done, day in and day out without complaining :)

Also given the condition of the rear leaf, I am surprised it isn't "sagging"

    With and without camper.

They're independent, but if one is worn, the other probably is, too.
A good trick is to stand on your rear bumper and jump up and down on it. Does it immediately bounce back and stay still, or does it kind of bounce up and down a few times? If it stays bouncing, you need shocks.

It is immediately bouncing back and staying still

If you use this truck like I use mine 1000 pound payload is about normal

I would check out General Springs Heavy duty option

Get a new bolts for the spring hangers I have yet to ever get any out without cutting .

They *should* smile, however these OEM springs were at best 'apathetic' when they rolled off the factory floor. A lot of folks were complaining of negative arch after a short period. Whether you need to replace them, is up to you.

    Ah that makes sense

With load since it feels bottoming out over bump maybe time for replacement
