Hi guys, so I took my stock muffler off and been riding on an Aero turbine muffler for the past 2-3 months, but am strongly considering to going back to stock. I love the sound but I noticed the loss of torque and not liking it very much.

My stock muffler is a bit rusty, I figured since its off maybe I can paint it before I put it back on. is this a good idea?

Sure, why not. Just use high temp paint. I painted motorcyle muffler with bbq paint and it has held up. It get way hotter than the muffler on the truck I would bet.

Get a wire wheel on a battery powered drill and take the rust off first. That way, you will have a smoother longer lasting coat of paint.

    Great feedback!!!

I will use the BBQ paint and use a wire wheel first for the rust, good tips. Perhaps I will do my tail pipe too so its all even.

    Thanks

I painted my whole exhaust from the cats to the tailpipe with 2000 degree BBQ paint I got at Lowes.

The BBQ paint works well from what I read...I used the VHT Flame Proof on my motorcycle exhaust shields and it worked really well...just another option.
