2023 Sr Utility. Anyone know how to disable or modify the seat belt alarm on the passenger side?
I'm looking for a physical option not an app or programing, not certain any would work on my stripped down work truck. I could always go pick up a spare seat belt buckle from a scrapyard, but I'm kind of wondering if anyone has just bypassed or unhook the sensor under the seat? Getting Really tired of my tool bag or the dog setting it off.
If it was like a forklift or tractor seat sensor I could add a few spacers to increase the weight needed to set it off.

Scrap buckle is the answer, don’t overthink it or worse, incriminate yourself in the worst-case scenario.

If you bypass some it’s a huge pain to have an actual passenger in your truck. Assuming you’re honorable enough to disclose that you have intentionally disabled critical safety features for them only, and that your airbag still works perfectly well.

Seat buckles are like $10 on Amazon, I trust you can do the math.

Don’t know why you wouldn’t the programming method, but based on that it sounds like you need one of the dummy inserts to put in the buckle.

Yea this, you can buy a Carista, plug it in the OBD2 port and use the app to disable it. Super easy and you can always revert back if you change you mind. No dealing with extra parts that can get lost over time.

The only passengers I tend to haul around are those who refuse a seat belt at their own risk. Their mother was cut in half by a faulty seat belt in a wreck so I don't push the issue much.

And Ideally I would Like the alarm to go off When someone is sitting in the seat. But it goes off with less then 30 lbs on it if I hit a bump. Probably will go with a dummy, I just know I'll loose it repeatedly.

Horrific but anecdotal and likely a lap belt from decades ago, times and tech have changed. Anyway, good luck in your quest and be sure to cover your ass when anyone else hops in. “At their own risk” verbally until you’re in a wreck and they realize they can sue you and get money signs in their eyes.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Tether it to the seatbelt stalk.

Someone on this forum posted you can just unplug the wiring to the buckle, i.e. open-circuit is sensed as seat belt inserted.

Why not just insert the seatbelt?

Not anecdotal. Also not going to argue with you over it. She was a friend.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
You can just disable the audible chime you wish and not lose any functionality if someone chooses to wear the belt sitting there. I do this all the time with TIS or the dealer can do it quite easily. If you ask and explain the situation they may help you out, some will undoubtedly refuse since they may fear legal responsibility. Just providing options.

On my 2021 the dealer(s) would not disable even though the Owners Manual says they can. It is under customizations in the owners manual. I have Techstream and it cannot disable, I purchased Carista (sp) and it cannot disable the seatbelt chimes either. Both Techstream and Carista say they do during programming but do not in actuality.

It is possible to open the seatbelt receiver of each and deactivate the switch, or rather activate it at all times.
