Something isn’t being done right. I have edited both side chimes on both tech stream and Carista on a 2021.

I've had two different versions of Techstream; got the second version just to see if the first was bad, behaved the same as the first version. That is why I bought Carista just in case I somehow had two versions of Techstream that were bad. My current thought is they removed the capability from Techstream. This is why I removed the switch on driver's side only so far.

I've programmed many other options using Techstream with no problems.

    Tacoma production date 10/21/2020
    Techstream versions used:
    16.20.023
    17.30.011

    I had a misunderstanding.

Your comment made me go back and reread the Owner's Manual. In the Owner's Manual there is a reference to a "chime" that if driving over a certain speed could be disabled - it says nothing about stopping the chimes when first starting the vehicle. Page 568.

I just went through the programming again after getting the switch out of hibernation and driving around. With the seatbelt option enabled (stock default) the truck beeps at me when I first start the engine AND upon driving at speed if the belt is not fastened. When I disable the Chimes (via Techstream), I only get the Chimes when I first start the truck, the in-motion chimes are gone. I would never have detected this difference as I always drive with my belt on. It felt very strange driving around without the belt during my testing.

    In 2021 Owner's Manual: Pages 477 & 479. General information.
*3: Driver’s seat belt buzzer: The driver’s seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the driver that his or her seat belt is not fastened. Once the engine switch is turned to the “ON” position (vehicles without smart entry & start system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with smart entry & start system), the buzzer sounds. If the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer sounds intermittently for a certain period of time after the vehicle reaches a certain speed.

In Customizations: Page 568 Disable or Enable.
"Vehicle Speed linked seat belt reminder buzzer"

I'll work on a thread to instruct on removal and relocation the seatbelt switch.

I got a pair of seat belt buckle extenders for Christmas. They work fine. I sometimes make deliveries for work in my truck and if it's raining or threatening to rain these are helpful when loading the cab full with boxes of books. I don't feel right driving without being buckled in so I never do, and I don't let front seat passengers ride unbuckled.

The only ding I can't find on the Carista is the annoying one when you open the door before shutting off the truck....unless, it is buried somewhere under another name.

I can't find a disable for this feature in Techstream either. The easiest would be to disconnect the buzzer. It is in front of the battery in the engine compartment. You would have to determine if the other functions this buzzer supports are to your liking or not.

Toyota calls this buzzer the "Wireless Door Lock Buzzer" in their schematics. If you would like to have another looksee through Carista.

I got one of these with my rescue pup.
Does double duty for me, ... I frequently travel low-and-slow on back-roads looking for wildlife to shoot
... ( with my Nikon ha ha ) and hop in and out of the truck. Fking with the seatbelt means missed shots.
So I plug this in and drive 10mph ...

Plus if I ever need to take the pooch with me it doubles as a restrainer for the pup.

I think any pet store or even Wmart sells these things, about $10-$15 bucks.

Thanks for the info. That's not in Carista, either. It has trained me over time to shut the truck off before opening the door and if you do want it open with the truck running, you just have to push the button on the boy once and it shuts off. Still annoying, though.

I was having an odd issue the seatbelt extender method, it would cause the airbag to sometimes stay off even though someone was sitting in the passenger seat. Be careful about this. OBD Fushion also allows you to disable the alarm but the light will still flash on the dash.
