Hello all! My vehicle is a 2010 SR5 Double Cab V6 4.0L Timerland Mica.

This is my first time posting to TW and looking to see some lifted 2nds!! I am looking into upgrading my 2010 Tacoma with a lift and needing some pictures and advice on where to start to avoid having to cut/trim/chop and replacing parts that I don’t need to.

I am currently riding on stock 265/70/r16s from a 2021 tacoma with no additional modifications. I am just looking for solid opinions for a solid setup that people have had longevity and little to no issues.

You can tell me to search other posts but trust me, I have.

    Thanks in advance.

2007 lifted 2" front/back. Icon Stage 8 at factory height setting/rxt leaf pack at option 2. 2.5" RR extended travel coilovers and shocks. Just upgraded from 265/75r16 bfg a/t's with stock wheels (no rubbing) to 275/70r17 Toyo R/T Trails with 0 offset Method wheels. Had to do some minor plastic trimming, pinch weld (figured what the hell), and modified mud flaps... clears body mount by 1/2" at full lock.
Edit: haven't noticed any power loss between those 2 tire sizes... both e rated. Rides/handles excellent... no issues.

I had this OME kit that I installed back in early 2013. 886 coils, HD Dakars, firm struts, with SPC UCA's. I also did a U-bolt flip kit from with Timbren bump-stops. I dont remember the final out the door price but I think it was ballpark $2k - 2.5k. This was before OME had the BP-51's which I would have gone with in the beginning if I was to do it all over again. I had that lift installed for 10 years virtually trouble free. A little rough in the seat but I have a plate bumper with a winch and full armor so it's a bit heavier than stock. If you're not going heavy, you can go with soft struts and 887 coils which should still get about 2.5 - 3" of lift. Overtime you will get a little sag in the front as everything settles. As far as trimming, you shouldn't have to trim anything if you keep the stock tire size. You'll run into issues when you want to step up to stuffing larger tires in there which may have you bend the pinch weld and trim your cab mounts. As with most vehicle lifts, you will need an aftermarket UCA to keep your alignment close to what stock calls for drivability. I have recently replaced my suspension with Kings 2.5 RR but I haven't had it on long enough to give a thorough review.

I notice a lot of people have 17” wheels, are those more beneficial over 16”? Are new UCAs needed for over 3” to prevent rubbing on stocks UCAs?
I would be interested in a cheaper lift but not wanting to do dirt cheap because I do a lot of driving and want to maintain a smooth ride while having the ability to do occasional off-roading. I’ve read that doing blocks in the front/back are pretty rough, any experience with this? 3 inch would be max lifting for me and hoping to keep it under $1k

The more negative offset you have on wheels the more issues you will have with rubbing. Sticking to stock tire size but lifting can make your truck look a little funny. Here ismy truck with around a 2 inch lift using Eibach 2.0 coilovers, and the icon 3 leaf AAL pack. The picture with the camper shell is stock wheels with Toyo at3 in a 265/75R16. The other photo is FN five star wheels with a -25 offset and mickey thomson baja legend 285/75R16. I love the function and the look of the bigger tires. I also hated the Toyos in the rain. I've been really happy with the suspension but i have been chasing rubbing and vibrations. Which that started after installing full set of skid plates. So thats a whole other thing.

In my opinion the 2 biggest differences other than size between a 16" and 17" wheel is the amount of tire options and tire cost between the two. Both going in favor of 16" wheels.

I reccomend staying at or below 2.5" of lift. A lot easier to deal with and less headache. Aftermarket UCA's not required but could be beneficial if your alignment numbers are off.

With what you're looking to spend I reccomend looking at bilstein 5100's front and rear with 885 or 887 coils and an add a leaf. This will put you at right around your $1k budget. Keep in mind unless you're doing the work yourself, that doesn't include install costs.

King 2.5 coilovers with 2.5 bypasses with mid travel. Probably about 3" lift.
    TC UCA/LCA
    No sway bar
Deaver Stage 3 leafs, BAMF shock relocate, King 2.0 12" smoothies with clickers

used to have 315s, but dropped down to 285s to clear the bypasses. CMC for 315s. Also cut 2" from the front flares/fenders. Rear is not cut.
