    Hey guys,

Sorry for the n00b question but I just purchased my Tacoma and noticed the light is on to get the oil changed. With my past vehicles I have always used synthetic, but I always owned the car before 50k miles... I bought this one with 80k miles on it, and so I've heard the rumor that if you start using synthetic too late then it can actually be harmful and cause leak to the seals...

Just looking for advice on if this is true or not. I don't know what the previous owners used, but the dealership told me they changed the oil and didn't put synthetic in there...

    Thanks for any help...

Perfect!!! Thanks for the help... And do you change synthetic at 5,000 or 15,000? I had my Denali for 100,000 and only changed every 15,000 without problems...

I swapped to synthetic at 50k miles and no issues. I change it every 7,500 - 10k miles depending on what I put the truck through in that time. I'm using Mobil 1 and OEM filters.

I started running it after about 75. No seal issues. I am having a P0022 code come up and I've been told it could be an oil issue(cloggin up some screen or valve), but dont know that it has anything to do with it for sure. Probably just coincidental.
