Can you tolerate the 4 cylinder?

    My '97 Reg cab 4WD was fine with the 2.7L manual. I bought the 2012 AC 4WD 2.7L manual, and it just couldn't handle the extra 400 pounds. Had to take it back and get the 4.0.

    I knew once I added a topper that's another 200 lbs, add in passengers and gear, no, I just couldn't live with the 2.7L. It's a fine engine, though.

    My 2nd gen tacoma won't let me get over 105? could it be the governor won't et me over that because its a regular cab?

    96 Dodge 12valve cummins- mine, 16 T4R - wife's, 11 Taco - totalled
    probably is a governor. most trucks govern out in the 90s. i was in a couple different POS ford rangers 4 cyl 5 spd manual. one hit 93 and the other 95 before governing out. i think my mom's yukon is 98. i've never tried to hit top speed in my truck. i think the motor would run out of power before i got going that fast.
