    indeed...

cause it has a 4 banger engine and very shitty top end HP...

here's a good example of a CIVIC doing well over 140MPH...fully built...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThDMGMd6yEI

    here's another 1...Daily Driver w/Custom Turbo Kit...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl432v0Dgx0

obviously these truck would never go 200MPH...

I'm just saying if you got money to spend and waste it on something dumb like making a truck go 200 MPH...its will cost you a ton of $$$ but its possible...

you would also need to build the engine and transmission up to get to 200 MPH...you need a lot of HP and the right gearing to reach that class of speed...

its unbelievably hard for a car to go over something like 120mph. i dont remember the formula but its something along the lines of it takes over 200hp in an average street driven car to hit 140 and something like 100hp for each 15mph over that. i'd love to find the formula, and if i can i'll post it. it's all about the aerodynamic properties of cars. most cars (as in daily driven cars) arn't designed to hit 140, most are designed to drive a sustained 65mph comfortably. shoot, a lamorghini gallardo's factory top speed is 194, and thats a super car!

My 2007 Civic has no problem going 100 mph, but I know it won't go anywhere near 140 even with a very tall over drive. Maybe with another 100 or so horsepower?:notsure:

the drag coefficient of newer civics is relativley good (a sedan is .31) compared to other street cars like the murcialago that is .33 or a 3rd gen prius at .25. still though, it takes alot to get over that drag.

Perhaps tacos can go 200, if My 2.4 keeps up with 5spd civics that go 200, then any taco will go 200 just fine. Don't ask me how I know my truck keeps up.
I have a regular cab that is only 2wd so it's pretty light. I can change lanes and pass just fine with it. If it had any more power, it'd just spin the tires. It's too light in the back. Passing cars on the highway in 4th gear is possible but you need some patience if you're going up a hill.
I'm willing to bet that 2.4 5spd reg cab taco is comparable to the 3.4 and possibly the 4 litre too.

Edit: by comparable, I mean performance wise. (nit hauling a load)

    Kidding about tacos going 200?
Yes I was kidding. I would pay money to see a civic or a taco reach 200

I'd only feel safe doing 140 in a car designed to run 155 or more. Civics were not designed to drive at that kind of speed, let alone Tacomas.:D

I had a 99 civic that went 120mph stock. That was in 4th gear till it hit the limiter. My brother had a civic that went 140mph that had more work done relitive stock acura motor, no limiter... these are cars that have way less drag than a truck... but who cares.... shouldnt speed

yes but the poster said a civic wouldn't hit 140 MPH...that's why I posted that video...

as far as the 200 MPH civic...there are only a handful of people out there that have hit the 200 MPH class...you'll never catch those guys going 200+ MPH on the street cause its stupid, the roads are meant to handle those types of speed, and if they get caught (without getting into an accident) there goes there track licensing...

I was just stated that nothing is impossible...if you got the money and time anything can be attained...

It's not mine:( I work at a Chevy dealer and it's parked on the other side of the wall from my parts counter. I drool a little and my pants feel tight every time I walk by it.:D Maybe if I took it for a spin they wouldn't miss it? Yea, right.

I agree with everything you said, but I still wish my truck had a little more acceleration off the line. I knew when I bought a 4000 lb truck with 159 hp that it wouldn't be fast and when I test drove it, it seemed OK. However, after 2 years of owning the truck, I wish I had gone for the V6. Having said all of that, my truck has never let me down and I plan on keeping it for a long time.
