Can you use a Frontrunner slimline 2 roof rack as a bedrack?

After an expensive fiasco of a leaking Frontrunner slimline 2 on a 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad, have decided not to reinstall on the roof. Is it possible to install it in a shortbed on feet? Thanks once again. This forum is invaluable.

 

How the hell does that leak? Did you forget to use RTV silicone in the bolt holes/retaining nuts? I don’t see that working at all…I would gladly take it off your hands! I love Front Runner stuff.

 

I had it professionally installed but it leaked, causing $4000+ damage so I am hesitant to have it reinstalled. I have since learned it is too narrow to fit the truck bed. I need a rack but dont want to risk another roof rack nightmare. If I buy a new rack for the bed, I will also have to buy a soft roll tonneau so it will accommodate the rack. Any suggestions? Is there anyway I can adapt the "narrow" Frontrunner slimline 2 roof rack to the short bed of a gen 3 toyota truck? Or should I start from scratch and buy a rack for the bed? Out of ideas.
