Took the steering shaft into work today and ran it across the wire wheel to clean the rust and crap off of it. The u joint is seized in one direction.

    So my plan of action

Mark the two yokes so it will go back together the same way.

Take the grinder and cut into the u joint freeing it from the caps.

Using a selection of scokets set up to push the cap out into a bigger socket. This will be done in the vice

Clean the yoke of any rust and burs

    Soooooo different direction .....

Toyota from the factory for years has been installing two different brands of spark plugs. Denso plugs in the passenger side bank of cylinders and ngk in the drivers side. Lots of guess why toyotas come this way but my 2002 was like it and so was my 2007. No wonder why the spark plugs were so hard to remove.

So what does this mean ?
The 07 has never had a set of plugs in 383520km. The plug gap is supposed to be .038 to .045 when new. I measured the ngk ones and they were .092 twice the recommended gap. 926DAED1-82C4-4B16-9CFF-01CD6608C177.jpg294D8ECA-B685-41DE-AB89-8161AFF133FC.jpg7629C1FD-18F0-4D5E-AADE-2BD3C0E8C4AE.jpg1F42364F-B95F-4369-AC7A-EBCA73174D98.jpgDBB28EA9-54B8-4556-A128-F2084204C766.jpg

First picture for reference flat spot in shaft up and threaded side down. I took the grinder and cut into the u joint, then put the yoke ear in the vise and used a punch to remove the caps

Pretty sure I bought a tonneau cover off of you about a month ago. Didn't know you had your build up on here, gonna have a look through it after work. Good luck man!

Pretty good man, honestly the only spots that I'm finding leaks to are where the tail gate is bent and it doesn't sit flush. Had my gym bag in there over the rain storm we had and it was dry :D

So, it is worth the effort to do I would think? Maybe install a boot over the joint if you want to go full skookum with the parts. If so I shall see how much the local ATV place charges for a joint.

@ravenlord 100% worth it cost me $30 and a bit of time

This would make a good weekend project, remove Friday night rebuild have a few beer install Saturday morning.

I will be taking a dirt bike tube and making a boot for this
