Canada BS Thread

My family came to Canada from France in a dug out canoe back in the 1600's

 

Steam engines were big once. So were parachute pants. So should we talk about and worship those things too?

Waaaaaaaaait a second. You guys have steam-powered parachute pants in Canada? That sounds awesome and horrifying at the same time.

 

Worship is the wrong word, but both voyageur's and trains made a significant contribution to the development of Canada, in fact Canada would not be Canada without those canoes and trains.

 

'steam' is code for wet farts from eating copious quantities of beaver and moose meat.

 

So high-volume trouser chowder is a thing up there?

This is just getting weird now.

 

I know and I was exaggerating, but it's kind of silly to sit on a soap box and tell people that canoes are still important. Like the Battleship, they have there noble important place in fairly recent history but right now they aren't really something to get all excited about.

 

Better in your pants than in your shoes I always say

 

make guy behind you, paddle canoe faster. Also gas storage so light fire easier in camp.

We still celebrate canoes in a way, and experience wilderness recreationaly with them, that provides canadians a bit of the frontier experience. Canoes and travel by canoe is one of those little tidbits that makes us Canadian.

 

How many Canoes does the average Canadian own?

I prefer Kayaking personally.

 

I have 2 ocean kayaks

 

I've only ocean kayaked once. There's a place that rents kayaks in the next city up river. Usually a couple of us will drive up and rent the kayaks then drink beer and fish our way back home.
