3 questions requires Canadian numbers... :)

How many km per tank are you getting?
    Very little, maybe 400k.
How many km do you drive after the gas light comes on?
    Never Has come on.
Do you get better km's if you use premium vs reg fuel?
Couldn't say for sure cause I've never used anything but premium.

    :)

    Yes sir
    1. Averaging around 450km per tank

    2. Although the rush feels good (Seinfeld episode anyone?), I'd say I go about 20km max, but that's just a guesstimate

    3. I'm tried both and kept the acceleration the same all the time (about 2000rpm's) and haven't noticed really any difference, I still got around that 450km per tank on either

How many km per tank are you getting?
    450ish

How many km do you drive after the gas light comes on?
I always fill before 1/4 tank

Do you get better km's if you use premium vs reg fuel?
    Yes and no.
Nominal difference, unless I'm doing significant amounts of hilly highway driving (like, say NB) where the premium can give me a little more oomph uphill before downshifting. (super scientific research there eh?)

Um, intelligence organisations usually help prepare briefings since they collect intellegence. CSIS also helped put together information on Fukashima for the feds... does that make them bad too?

It's only a bad thing if CSIS stops people from expressing there opinion. If CSIS just helps the appropriate authorities with deflecting the protests so they are still able to voice there opinion but not slow down the project illegally then I have no problem with that. C-51 goes much further than that, from what little I've read.

In what part of it's mandate is CSIS supposed to gather intelligence on potential legal assembly ?

Last sentence of the article about sums it up ~

"The big question I have is, why are they producing these intelligence reports on protest activity they acknowledge is legitimate and outside their mandate?"

I think your answer is right there in bold. What's wrong with CSIS taking a look? If they gather there information without unduly influencing the event then I think that is something our intelligence community needs to do. I think you'd be surprised how many legal professional protesters know the same sort of people CSIS should be interested in.

I'm not saying that CSIS didn't overstep there mandate, because simply they did. What I am saying is that they should have the power to investigate and infiltrate protest groups as long as they are not unduly influencing their right to protest in a lawful matter.

What's wrong with a spy agency spying on Canadians outside of their mandate ?

Why should CSIS have the power to infiltrate or spy on protest groups or protesters that are obeying the law ? If they can do that you are essentially saying that CSIS should be allowed to spy on any law abiding Canadian citizen .

How do you tell if someone is obeying the law though. That's really the question. How far are we willing to go to find out what's a threat and what's not?

Did they exceed there mandate or were they asked to look into something? I'd like to know who was involved and what the conversation was, we honestly only have half of the story.

Anyways, this is probably a topic for a thread of its own. It's a broad question that really can't be summarized easily or fairly in an online forum.

Yes lol, I do. A lot of my family works in Ottawa. If another agency is within there mandate and they ask for assistance than that's a bit of a different story, right?

    No , it's not

Even if another agency asked them to do it they cannot breach their mandate

    and :

Is CSIS allowed to investigate protest groups?

CSIS is is mandated to investigate individuals or groups that may pose a threat to the security of Canada. As defined in section 2 of the CSIS Act, threats include espionage or sabotage, foreign-influenced activities or activities in support of terrorism. Section 2 specifically bars CSIS from investigating "lawful advocacy, protest or dissent,"unless it is carried out in conjunction with one of the threat-related activities defined in the Act.

Good to know. You must be one of those professional protesters :D. From the sound of it though there is no clear definition of how you determine if a protest group meets that specific criteria. If part of there mandate is to find out if a "lawful advocacy, protest or dissent" group may "pose a threat to the security of Canada" because some of it's members are not so righteous morally and would overstep that line between legal and illegal activity, then how is that any different from what I said? Maybe there's been a court ruling on that but, again, I don't pretend to know very much about the legality of what and how CSIS conducts its operation.

So you're fine with CSIS being able to spy on any Canadian they choose on the off hand chance that person may end up being someone that they could actually be mandated to spy on ?

If they have something to go off of, like know associations with people with a criminal past that could be considered a threat to Canada, then yes. Again many professional protesters would fall under that description I'm sure.

I also believe that CSIS should have to notify two members of parliament of any operation. Those members would be sworn to secrecy for a period of 5 years under threat of long term imprisonment. Those members of parliament, one from the ruling party and one from the official opposition, should be able to determine if the operation is a credible one. That's how most democracies control there intelligence arms, with a small subcommittee, and I'm not sure if Canada does to be honest.
