Oh, shitty spill response is a problem but I would think that much like any emergency response that it should be tackled from the human side to eliminate as much time wasting as possible. I think those changes are easier to make than the technological ones, but who knows.

 

Unfortunately those of us who live here do have to worry. Btw my comment was made in good humour. Honestly I wish Alberta and BC could come up with a fair and scientific process to evaluate the best pipeline routes, volumes, and harbours. Then any construction could follow those routes, volumes, and harbours to a tee. I know, that's way to simple of an idea for our politicians.

 

I think the problem is the same as with many safety measures in the oil industry. That problem is that often until an emergency on the scale predicted happens it's difficult to tell what measures will be timely and effective on full scales spills without a ton of costly overkill.

 

It depends on what you define as a bad idea. If no routes can be made to work safely and the study is fair then I don't see what else can be done. I seriously doubt though that there aren't some routes that would present a fair and ecologically sound trade off for the economic benefits that could be reaped.

 

Or we give up on oil completely, becuase let's face it. If no one else is willing to talk about any tradeoffs as being fair or justified on any level then really we need to just give up our cars and start biking everywhere.

No, becuase usually I just put them on or leave them off. Or find an alternative like sandals. I also wear socks to protect my feet from blisters but that doesn't always work.

Scary 4 years ahead with silver spoon Sally that's all I know... :-/ Wouldn't be all too scary if we had a premier that actually stood up for her own residents on the world stage.. People can say what they like, its obvious the Liberals were not as popular as their belief was, in fact how many would wager that 50% of those votes were robbed from Tommy Boy in the last hours seeing that the Liberals were ahead of PCs, and the whole ABC thing took place? I get why those people did that I do, but hey even if the team I am voting for is gonna lose I'm still going to go way I felt from day 1, dignity thing I guess some don't have it...
