Yup. I'm not disagreeing with you at all. The school board reviewed it and left it alone because they felt it was safe under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In my honest opinion, doesn't a student have the right to sit in a classroom all day and not have to worry about Religious Tolerance at 5 years old. Maybe I'm crazy.

We still have Catholic Schools that do the same. Non Catholics sometimes go there too if it's convenient and they don't put up a fuss.

Honestly, we have more Religous Schools than Public Schools here lol. We have the Reformists School, the Catholic School, the Mennonite School, there's a School at every Hutterite Colony in the country side, there's a school for kids who don't fit in at any other schools... all based around a town of under 10,000 people. I'm sure it's the easiest way to appease everyone but it's a massive drain on the public system.

Catholic schools receive public funding like any other religious school. At least it's that way in Alberta. Only private haughty taughty schools don't receive public money.

You just choose which tickey box on your Tax form that you want your taxes to go to.

Then you're not doing it right. I have a Box to tick to say where 100% of my taxes go. I'm presuming if you don't pick one it goes 50/50.

I don't recall seeing an option for that on the tax assessment. I'll have a look when I get home.

The way it works here is you get an assesment and then about 5 months later you get a bill for your taxes with a breakdown of what portion is going where , no participation unless you are appealing the assesment

Looks like things work different in Canada's GOP belt

I don't care if business and schools don't celebrate Christmas. I don't want any particular religious beliefs or holidays pushed on me or my (future) children. Whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or whatever I don't want it forced upon people. If you want to believe and celebrate with your family, that is great. But don't try to make me and my family feel guilty or different because we don't believe/celebrate your shit.

Oh, I totally agree, but it's still a decent early gauge for how far his desire for about face policy changes will be. As the article mentions, politicians making promises to first nations is nothing new but Trudeau really put a focus on it with his campaign this time. What his government does in reality is anyone's guess but it will likely be one of the first issues he must address due to the time table he himself put on the changes.
