The NDP flip flop on their support of pipelines to BC didn't lose them the election , their 100's of millions of dollars worth of promises with no funding plan for them did

"The money from the Building Canada Fund was announced in late 2014 by the previous federal government but never made it to the province."

Federal Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi said $10 billion in new infrastructure money earmarked for the next two years will be allocated following the budget.
Meanwhile, the government is working with all provinces on fast-tracking cash but he said some didn't get the funds they were entitled to.
"Some provinces got their share of the money, some provinces didn't get their share of the money," Sohi said. "In the case of Alberta, that money was withheld."

    so Alberta gets:
    $250 million for fiscal stabilization
$700 million for infrastructure that was announced in 2014 (thanks Harper )
less than its fair share of $10 billion for infrastructure over 2 years

better than nothing, but the only new funding is the $250 million.

I don't think the $700 million is from the new infrastructure money , I think they are just releasing the funds already allocated that went unspent likely to hit the magical " balanced budget "

right, the $700 million is money Alberta should have already received.

does "in the case of Alberta, that money was withheld" mean Alberta is getting nothing or less than its fair share from the $10 billion for infrastructure?
I guess we'll find out when they table a budget in March.

Yeah , I'm not sure how the new infrastructure money will be divided , like you say that will be more clear after the budget is announced and yes this is money that was announced but unallocated by the Harper government .

I assume that because it was technically already promised 2 years ago thats how the Feds can now release this amount without too much delay

Someone told me that all that money is already spent on several projects that were allocated for years ago. It's just paying the bills on projects already in motion money, not new infrastructure money.

Just a reminder to my Alberta peeps on here. Not only will distract driving now cost you money and maybe one day your life, but it also carries demerit points. I know a girl, who is a terrible driver, that was pulled over yesterday and finally lost her license due to lack of points. Thank god for good laws like this one.

For my last job I basically had the same setup. No fax machine but I had a PC and iPad mount, a printer in the back seat, and full 4G internet from a potable WiFi hotspot. I didn't use any of it of course when the truck was moving or at a stop light.

This is a relevant article that mentions a pretty cool study that is still ongoing into overcoming the problems with figuring out when someone is too impaired on pot to drive.

    http://now.uiowa.edu/2015/06/ui-studies-impact-marijuana-driving

I watched a tv program on the study not to long ago, though I couldn't find the link, and it's pretty funny what happens when you smoke pot and drive in a simulator. You apparently drive 50% slower, weave within the lines, and often misjudge traffic signals (stop way to soon or late). I can't wait to hear the full results of these studies. The whole crazy notion that pot makes you a better driver, which some alternative news sites keep running to keep their average reader happy, is quickly being debunked.

Unfortunately, there are a few dozen other substances people are driving under the influence of, all the time.

Meh, I don't care about the guy on coffee or light duty muscle relaxants when the guy who drives angry because he hates life is more likely to cause an accident then them.

The work on THC has to be done before Trudeau legalizes in my opinion. He also has to address the private insurance implications.
