Yeah but the people you are referring to in the lowest tax bracket would have paid essentially no tax

Before someone in this situation might be able to eek by on welfare with kids because of the way the calculation was done. It factored in all of the money received as a taxable benefit which made it barely tenable and certainly not livable. People had the incentive to work. Now the system does not see that income as a taxable benefit, which means that NO income earners will be able to receive 100% free subsidized government housing and daycare while pocketing nearly 50K a year (with 5 kids of course)

You're missing the daycare/housing angle here. Before 45K in income would only qualify you for maybe a 50% subsidy.. if that. Which means you would have to spend most of your 45 K on living expenses and daycare. Now these people will get free daycare and housing while being able to pocket the 45K... that's a huge difference to me :notsure:

Huh , well like all social assistance programs , there are people that leach off it , there will likely be tweaks to the system once its implemented but you also have to be careful not to punish the people that legitimately need help by casting a worst case scenario 5 kids cheating blanket over all of them , but I get your point

I still want a couple grand a month for not being a part of this problem though

It's simple to fix. Limit the benefits to the first two kids. Then we get the next generation of tax payers and people still have to work to live. Plus there's enough left there that if you can't work at least you'll have a place to live and place to send your kids for free to eat good food during the day.

Again OZ, my daughter is who will be paying your healthcare and mine in retirement. A larger portion than either of us anyways.

On a positive note I should add that most of our new Syrian refugees have found places to live without living on the barracks. I even read a few articles about several that have found careers and are working towards citizenship. I wouldn't mind if one of them moved in next door, there's an empty house for rent :canada:

Would you guys please clear up this single parent business please? I've already told my divorce lawyer I'd have to call him back three times and now the adoption agency is calling me.

    Natural Gas = Mostly Methane.

We should clear that up because I think a lot of people here don't know that.

If you don't leak it, no problem. If you leak it, potentially big problem.

Again though methane is not a stable gas, hence why it burns, so it does decompose in the atmosphere. It only has about a 10 year lifespan in the air until it's gone. So if you clean up methane production and seal off the leaks, the problem solves itself in a decade. Way easier to manage than CO2 at this point.

Here's a chart to show that our effort are working too. Even with rising Natural Gas usage in the states the levels emitted are falling:

Maybe me. If it means I can quit my job and move into a nicer neighbourhood.

Might even look into a new truck, how are those 3rd Gen trucks doing? Maybe I'll check out the forum...

Hopefully once oil prices come up a bit and stabilize they will carry out their pledged removal of subsidies

You'll need to find a way to gather 5-7 kids to make it work best. You'll need to be declared their legal guardian. Try to get as many of them as you can under 6 yo. Once you have the kids declare a mental incapacity. Stress from all the kids works but you'll need a psychologist to put it in writing that you're depressed or whatever. File for the child care benefits and your welfare payout. You should be able to do both at the same time at any Service Canada outlet. While you are there inquire about subsidized housing, since you have no income, and they'll hook you up with what is available. After that put all of the kids in 12 hour a day daycare. Once they are registered apply for your daycare subsidy but make sure that you include that you are unable to work due to stress/depression/whatever and your doctors note. Once they see that you have no taxable income and that you aren't able to work your daycare bill will go to zero. In most provinces they will even handle the cheques for you so you don't have to stress yourself out depositing yours and then giving it to the daycare.

Then all you have to do is hang out at home playing video games all day while collecting you $15K + "x number of kids" X $6.4k . All tax free of course. Your only job will be putting the kids to bed and grabbing them Mcdonalds on the way home from the daycare.

Oh, and if you're female and one of those religious types, or you just didn't like the feeling of a rubber for the first few years you were sexually active, that has 6 kids already you can skip most of the steps and just head to Service Canada. Ditch dad and head on over. They'll hook you up.

I'd actually be in favor of a tax on methane where the power and natural gas producers have to prove that what came out of the ground is equal to what was burned. Whatever they leak, we tax at 10x whatever the carbon tax is. That way we get carbon dioxide free power and we can have a system that works for the economy. Win-win, no?

Hmmm. I'm not female. But if it helps I might be able to self identify as a lady. 2 kids already but none under 6. Just running the numbers to determine feasibility.

Two is only about 24K tax free. Even with fully subsidized living and daycare that's not enough to give up on life for.
