Either way the Vice article on drinking alcohol up your anus is very informative and makes up for any transgressions.

There are tons of crooked little deals going on. I mean he says Notley is clean as a whistle. Maybe he should look into how she has protected every single unionised public sector job, and promised wage increases, while her husband profits off of having unions stay strong. Politics is a crooked business.

 

Maybe the Rebel should cover some similar side stories lol.

In case anyone in western Canada didn't know there is an upcoming shortage you should be aware of. Basically PetroCanada will be a bit short this month due to the fires and it could cause some headaches. Gas is up 10 cents here and running low at the stations. It might be a good idea to fill when you can.

 

News has stations in BC already running out of gas

 

PetroCanada has deals with Shell and Coop to supply them during shortages. Those are the stations that will run out first.

Right now a lot of the shortage has to do with people rushing to the pumps in a media induced panic. Things should be OK over the next week, very tight though, so it is a good idea to gas up whenever you can.

 

That screaming female voice was assault enough! Seem like the squabble was over the parking space? Wow. Idiots.

 

Good thing people's fuel tank are a fixed size, panic induced shortage should be short lived.

Exactly. During the shortage though id expect periodic station shutdowns. It has happened before.

 

I'm not sure if anyone has been following this. What a cluster hump. Apparently these firefighters from South Africa did their homework on Notley. They did in fact sign a contract before leaving that compensated them by basically promising their regular South African salary, which is a couple of hundred bucks, plus a 50 dollar a day allowance while here. Now they are demanding Alberta equivalent pay and using politics to leverage their position even though the are on a tendered contract that pays them more than they would get at home.

What a mess, but damn those firefighters are smart for pulling this off.

Yeah, it's a pretty complex situation. I'm guessing the firefighters who came figured out the Canadians they were working with were making 2x-3x the money and someone had the idea of going on strike because of the current political climate. I don't necessarily think this was all planned out or something but the whole situation seems messy. My take? Next time hire firefighters from a country with wages similar to ours and just avoid a stupid situation like this where, I'm sure, Alberta will end up making extra payments out of pockets to these South African firefighters while they are here.

Oh, and cancel the contract. Accept the American offer for help and offer to pay.

 

The South Africans are part of a reciprocal firefighting agreement with Canada much like Australia and New Zealand

 

Read the article. Apparently they were actually the lowest bidder on a contract through that program.
