Any of you guys/gals run the stock OR tires for winter? Are they any good in the snow? Hoping to get through the first winter with the stock tires and get dedicated winters tires for next year. What do you guys think?

    Still stock completely capable!
I’m only in lower mainland bc. Which is wet slippery snow. Last year we had a little snow patch and we ended up with 8” on the roads. I went and played around and drove pretty good in 2wd drove amazing in 4wd hardly noticed there was snow on the roads. Only 1 place I was going down a steep hill and slid about 6’ but I was going faster than I should of been due to confidence in the truck lol! All in all drove fine. Plus I have done some pretty decent trails with stock tires(mud not snow) these tires perform great so I decided I would use them up rather than replace right away.

I live in East Van. The area I am in has been hit pretty good the last few years with snow that sticks around and turns into sheets of ice. All while the rest of Vancouver has next to nothing. Because of this, I bought Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV snows and mounted them on a set of 2005 Tundra wheels I found on Craigslist for $100. Do I really need then... maybe not but why take the chance. They have worked out great.

Looking at these on eBay right now for when my TRD sport arrives, the only thing I’m worried about is water getting behind them and freezing causing them to fall off, or just coming off when washing etc I’ve heard the tape that comes with them isn’t that great?

Anyone have these for a few years and can say that they hold up? I love the look of them

If that becomes a problem, then this will fix it

I just watched for them to go on sale. Figured they would pay for themselves over time.

I had occasion to spend about 2 hours on the phone with a Transport Canada engineer involved in winter tire testing. The testing is done at a lab in Michigan apparently.

What I learned is that every tire that has the mountain snowflake symbol passes the test, so they are all "good." Buy the cheapest ones if you are on a budget. But the big manufacturers have more money for R&D.

If I was in Vangroovy, I would probably not go for "the best of the best." For sure Hakkas are in that category. Unless I was going into remote mountainous areas like you said. I run Blizzaks myself, but my conditions are different from yours.

Hey people I am looking for some new leafs for my 3rd gen. Looking to replace my old Dakars with something different this time. Currently sitting at 2.75" lift in rear so I would like to keep it the same height.
I usually have a tool box with maybe 200lbs of gear in it and a RTT in the summer.
I want something that will be quiet.
    Suggestions and where to purchase?
    Thanks.

Victoria, B.C in summer. Sun Peaks, B.C. in winter

Stock tires on my OR are M&S which are legal in B.C. but not as soft and grippy in snow as a full blown winter tire with the Mountain Snowflake symbol. I spend my winters near Sun Peaks Resort and with a 600' long sometimes icy driveway, and with 4X4, rear locking diff, and conservative driving, I am not worried. I will get a set of chains, though.

Dedicated winter tire user here. Run studded Nokian Hakka LT2 in a 265/75/16 on Pro wheels. We’ve been running Nokians for the past 6 or 7 years on various cars and trucks.

Just curious if anyone has received a delivery date for a 2020 Pro...specifically AG in 6MT?

I assume they will hit the dealers out west first, as I believe they come in through Vancouver.
