I have a 24 lb female West Highland White Terrier, imported from Scotland, built like a small tank, and that is abso-facking-lutely fearless. She destroyed a racoon two years ago when it came meandering up the back trail. She had a litter of pups in the house at the time. Her name is Crazy Maisy, but I should call her Honey Badger.

quick question for you fellas running plate bumpers. Have you had any problems with rust forming on them? particularly in places where they salt the roads.

I have had mine on for two years and I only have rust where ever there are scratches that go down to the bare metal. Little sanding and spray paint solves it. One of the reasons I didn't go with powder coat.

    ^^
    x2

Powder coating is overrated on parts exposed to intensive use and weathering. Simple paint or spray-on bedliner is my choice, as it is much easier to colour match in touch-up situations.

I wouldn't even go line x either. Although it's super strong, as soon as you scuff it the "seal" that it has is done, and it's very hard to touch up afterwards. Had a avid bar line x'd and it was tuff to touch up. But then again that bull bar wasn't seeing too much action either.

Not that it matters, but an FYI the bed liner stuff is hard to keep clean. Not a huge deal but if your wanting a cleaner look, line x may not be for you.

I just did all my Avid bars with Apollo 2-step Epoxy bedliner. Took 3 days to cure! I still had to touch them up, so I used Dominion spray can bedliner from Cambodian Tire. I should have gone that route first!

As for a clean look, ya... the bedliner attracts dust.

I find that the bedliner coatings (atleast line-x) is kinda like powdercoat in the sense that it forms a coating around the item. So when that coating gets compromised it begins to lift off of the material its on. Then its just like peeling off plasti dip. I have never tried or used anything but line-x, and I didn't have this problem with my line-xed item, but have seen it on work trucks.

I'm sure the stuff you used is almost like a gritty paint apposed to a rubber like material like line-x. Again just assuming.

At the end of the day what ever will hold up best for your application that is the most feasible and durable. Hell paint that they use to paint ships that travel in the sea would be fantastic, but I am sure that shits expensive lol.

Also if anyone from Ontario around/close to the GTA area is interested in a meet and greet check this out.

hmmm so maybe ordering it naked and just keeping a wire brush and lots of black paint is a better way to go for keeping it looking nice. decisions decisions

I painted my rear bumper with por15. Made the whole prep process really easy. I spent $120 and got a gallon jug of marine clean, metal ready and 2 pint cans of por15. I was able to generously prep my rear bumper. Brushed on 3-4 coats of paint, and top coated with 2-3 cans of tremclad. I still have enough prep sprays and paint to do my front and rear bumper twice if need be. Plus my rear bumper is holding up better than my front which I got professionally down with some industrial epoxy paint.

    Just another thought for ya.

yeah I think im gonna do that instead. I have easy access to tremclad paint. plus I feel like getting it line-x'd or what ever will cost more money.
