Bone stock except bungee cords and husky liners!
I take it your finance loan is not from Toyota. Is that correct? So they withheld the better bank loan rate until selling you an ECP? Then convinced you it's cheaper? I'm not trying to be a jerk and perhaps I'm wrong and your with Toyota but the finance rates are a worst kept secret. Too bad they can't be like mortgage rates and published instead of the smoke and mirrors game.

I got my own financing, ended up online for the best, but had one local credit union lined up.

Maybe I am overlooking something in this post but how could they change an extended warranty back to 36000 km which is the basic warranty all vehicles come with?

They fixed the problem and put it back to the original 60 month or 100,000km
Quite the difference from 48,000 to 100,000km

    Good.

Do you know if this applies only to those that bought the warranty prior to this change being introduced, or to everyone that gets this warranty?

I've no horse in the race, but am curious.

I have a feeling this was just a fuck up on mailing and what not.
As soon as a I saw this thread I checked online about the current plans and they hadn't changed.

Toyota would be in for a total shit storm if they actually did this.

The bigger issue is the lie he was told, that he would get a better rate if he bought an extended warranty. I'm not sure how the law works up there in maple syrup land, but that is breaking some major laws in the states. No bank (down here) gives you a better rate for buying a warranty. The finance guy had the rate marked up over the buy-rate the bank gave him, so he gave up a little of that profit to make more by selling you an extended warranty. This lie is told every day by finance managers. In a past life, I told it as well. As far as the changes, I would bet a large sum of money, he screwed up and sold you the higher plan on accident, and when he saw the actual cost, tried to back you down a plan. Not only is the finance guy slimy, he's not even good at being slimy. Three ways to handle this in my opinion:

    1. Go to the GM of the store, and get him to honor the plan you signed and are legally entitled to. Easiest option
    2. Go to the GM and request a full refund. A little harder than option 1.
    3. Get a lawyer that specializes in auto dealer fraud, and go hard at the dealership for the right warranty and some cash. In U.S. fraud at a dealership gets you triple damages. The value of your car times three. This is the biggest pain in the ass of all three options, but you might get some cash out of the deal.

DO NOT let this dealership bully you.

They deffinetly tried to pull a fast one. they said the changes were made right when i bought the truck last october and i shouldnt have gotten the warranty i did but they are internally honouring it.
It stays at 60 months or 100, 000km + 6 services + 8 oil changes. thats for the platinum. not sure what its changed to now.
If you bought your truck right when the 3rd gen was released last year i suggest you double check what you payed for and what they now have in their system.
Goodluck and yes dont get bullied
