Perhaps the dealer means it's a canada spec truck and not canada built?

Do you have any geese in the back?

Canadian Tacos have a different spring rate to handle the extra 2.2 Oz weight of the Canada-only “low windshield washer fluid” sensor. Same reason we have no taco lean.

Actually Canadian Tacos along with other Canadian cars do not have mandatory tire pressure monitoring systems because Canadians are smart enough to occasionally check their tire pressure.

But they do have mandatory windshield fluid monitoring, because it’s life or death out there.

I've unfortunately heard this a lot. Often what they mean is that your truck was made for Canada, not made in Canada. But in this case, not even that would make sense, so the guy was probably just making stuff up. I've also heard a lot of people just make stuff up when they don't know. The better answer is always, always, "I don't know, but I'll find out."

    1GR-FE Single VVT-i: 366 lb
    A760F: 190 lb

2GR-FKS: 368 lb (this number may be a bit off, had to look it up for another vehicle as it's not listed for the Tacoma specifically)
    AC60F: 190.6 lb

They’re heavier, no doubt. But it’s mostly in the extra stuff on the truck (added steel reinforcements, thicker panels, extra airbags, more standard features, etc.), not so much the powertrain changes.

A good comparison is the 2.7L 5MT 4x4, since it’s mostly the same engine and transmission for 2005-2017.

I live in Victoria B.C. where no one needs a block heater but the dealer does offer one for $450Cdn. I spend my winters at Sun Peaks resort so I bought a block heater on line for around $100 and had a local indy Toyota mechanic install it for 1/2 hour labour.

I didn't know that Canadian tacos had windshield fluid monitoring because I have never let the fluid get low. But winter driving in most of Canada can use up a lot of ww fluid.

Only in some provinces. BC Tacomas don’t come with block heaters. There is quite a few differences.

I can see why they made it a legal requirement. There are remote places in this country, where running out of wiper fluid would pretty much force you off the road, with no store or gas station for hundreds of miles. Dempster highway on a muddy day for one.

    Yeah, but. :D

If your a bit above the sensor, it isn't much help with a handful of squirts left.

I have no issue with low level sensors on most cars where the bottle is hidden from view down in the bumper. The Taco, it's right freaking there. No ones fault but their own for running low, IMVHO.

Speaking of, how's that brake clunk?

Pretty sure you'll find most Tacomas on the lot have the little plug drilled through the bumper.. Maybe not in the lower mainland, but it's a big province outside of Hope.

It’s not a requirement of sale in BC. It is in Yukon etc. Dealers may be adding them.
