You can get a TRD Sport with a manual transmission. Or get the TRD Off Road in the Access Cab.
I think that the TRD Offroad Double Cab would sell very well if they offered it in Canada.

It's all about mileage. Manuals get lower MPG than autos so none of them get LB which adds weight. Limited is fully loaded and heavy so it doesn't get LB in the US. Pretty simple when you look at things from that point of view.

The mileage difference between a short box and a long box is very minimal.

Some dipwad from Toyota. I would love to buy a short bed double cab auto. The thought if having to row a 6speed truck tranny with a heavy clutch does not appeal to me anymore in stop and go traffic.

?? You think the MT is not available in the long bed because its like 90 pounds heavier? I wonder why they will let you put a tonneau cover and running boards on a 6MT. that must kill mileage too....

I bet CAFE doesn't take into account add-ons. Just a guess.

I prefer the access cab but I'm concerned that my 6 year old son wouldn't be comfortable sitting in a booster seat. If I knew he'd be comfortable back there until he's about 10 or 11 then I'd definitely get the 4x4 TRD Off-Road Access Cab V6 w/ manual transmission.

I know I can get the TRD Sport in DBL Cab M/T but I want the off road stuff: bilstein shocks, all terrain tires, and a-trac.

Only cosmetic I know but that fake hood scoop is ugly and I prefer the black fenders instead of the color matched ones: the contrast with the quicksand color looks great. I'm fussy I know but for that kind of money I should be.

If I could get the "4x4 Standard Pkg DBL Cab V6 w/ manual transmission" I'd consider making it off-road worthy in a couple of years with after market parts but it looks like even that option is not available.

This thread is dead however my question is regarding my 2016 Tacoma slated for build on Dec 21st.
Ive poked around the site looking for a clear answer for Canadians but was unable to find it except for the details here you posted which id like a bit more clarification for if possible.
I have a TRD 4x4 sport premium package ordered and want to be very sure it comes fully equipped to haul including hitch, oil cooler, larger alternator etc. if thats whats included anyways..
My dealer says yes but after reading some threads on here that you have to add the towing package I want to be sure before the 21st
    Thank you!!

the canadian models come with the tow package, mud flaps, d rings in the bed and mats.

I bought a 16 dclb trade sport upgrade but i would have rather had a off road in that body style

Thanks for clarifying! And no tonneu cover...

Why the OR preference? besides the obvious capabilities?

I really don't like the look of the plastic fenders and wheels..

Better Suspension, rear locker is pretty sweet and can make a big difference, no fake hood scoop, cool crawl control that we will mostly use a couple times cause we want to try it and the multi terrain system which again could help. Not sure if the Sport has it but on the offroad some of the info on the display shows the slope and pitch of the vehicle. Also cool. Bottom line is Canadians in general are getting screwed on the options of models we can have.

Definitely has some fun extras. I personally love the fake scoop.. even if its fake. lol
I know a lot of that stuff I'd never use anyways (bites tongue) Im sure the terrain ill get into the sport will do more than enough.

And yes.. we get screwed pretty hard in a lot of ways. It's like we don't exist up here.. BUT I'm please to hear I'll get my tow package, mud flaps and rubber mats.

nothing wrong with the scoop...fake or not...and all that off road crap...I can make my sport just as able...hell...not even sure if I've ever used my 4 low...and I live in the Rockies! Skill, with some good tires is all you need. I too hate the plastic fenders.

Oh and 16 inch wheels vs 17 inch wheels. Which apparently are better for off-roading due to more sidewall or something. At least that's what I read on the internets.

Put a locker in the trd sport as an option, you know like every domestic manufacturer offers. (Ram, Ford, GM) and I would be happy. A rear locker is very useful if you drive your truck off the pavement.

We may get screwed on the lack of options we have but having the piece of mind that I`ll never need to find a place to store a hand gun in my truck for quick access is well worth it IMO.
